In case you didn’t know, or are new here, I’m the world’s biggest James Perse fan; I want everything, I tend to buy almost everything, and then I wear it all the time. The jacket I’m wearing is about four years old and even though it’s way too big on me now, I can’t get rid of it. It doesn’t look too big (I don’t think) because of the tie waist, and the oversized hoodie lends to it’s general oversized-ness, and it’s so cozy for chilly days. I also love the longer back length and rounded hem – JP really knows how to work with details.
The dress is a basic t-shirt dress, also sold out, but here’s one that’s nearly identical at Shopbop – in blue. His ruched dresses and skirts are crazy good, if you’re hippy, they accentuate them, while also holding them in a bit, and if you’re not, they help to create them. Perfection. The ruching also allows you to play around with different lengths if you just stretch the skirt down a bit.
Since I lost weight this year, I’m busily trying to replace a lot of my favorite James Perse basics, like t-shirts, but I’m also looking for other pieces, older pieces, that I had a few years ago and no longer do. For that, I’m turning to eBay. So far, I haven’t bought anything, but I’ve had a lot on my watch list, and continue to find things to add all the time. Turns out that’s what eBay is best for, finding things you missed out on, or older things you want to buy at a discount. Like the jacket I’m wearing – it’s available on eBay in black in a size 2…of course it’s on my watch list! I highly recommend the style.
If you’re also a James Perse fan, check out my Essential James Perse collection on eBay where I’ve curated all my favorite pieces. Obviously because it’s eBay they don’t stick around very long, but I use the “see similar item” button all the time, and sometimes it’ll show me the exactly same item relisted, or available from another seller.
Have you found any good James Perse on eBay? What’s your favorite score??

I LOVE that jacket except I hate hoods. So many cute sweaters and jackets are ruined for me because of the hoodie obsession that seems to have passed right on by me 😉 You look great – so put together & comfortable! I love that you are wearing the ankle booties after saying you had bought them but weren’t wearing them. I just got a flat chelsea style black ankle boot – wore for the first time yesterday and felt weird all day – new style for me, not sure how to wear them etc. Thank you for inspiring me to try new things!
i don’t like hoods much either, but in this case, with this jacket, it’s great because of the neckline it creates. you can’t get that without the hood draping down the back!! i did used to have a hoodie obsession, but that ended several years ago, maybe after this jacket – i reached my hoodie limit!
i love the ankle booties with this outfit, i just wish i could wear them with jeans, etc., but i don’t think it suits me very well. skirt/tights/ankle boots good, jeans/ankle boots = not good!
I scored my ruched pencil skirt on eBay, and just got an updated version of the JP peacoat to replace the other one that I love (and am wearing to pieces). The new jacket has a shearling collar, and isn’t exactly the same as the old one, but I love it.

kelly – here’s a jacket without a hood, looks very similar! http://www.ebay.com/itm/James-Perse-Vintage-Fleece-Waist-Jacket-Size-1-Grey/321245308200?_trksid=p2047675.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D11%26meid%3D2702684114993804481%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D1005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D221307661303%26
Wow! Fantastic look! Really sleek and elegant and shows such nice comfort and ease as well! It’s really fun to look back and watch your style evolution! You look absolutely fantastic and very inspiring! Thank you for sharing!!!
I just found your blog a few weeks and I absolutely love your style!
I’ve been hesitant to try the JP dress (the one you linked too) because it seems so clingy. Would you size up?
hi dee! i usually do size up in the ruched dresses unless they’re 100% cotton – i’m wearing a size 3 in this one, but in another one – this one for example that’s 100% cotton – i take my normal size 2.
Thanks! Off to do some ordering….
I’m finally back from Vegas, and can catch up with your posts. I didn’t have any amazing scores, but at least I survived my mom. I also don’t like hoods, but I’d make an exception for JP. The outfit looks great, and I like how you cinched in the belt. The monochromatic black tights and booties work well, too. It’s very flattering. I’m a big eBay buyer, and have purchased several JP pieces: essential tees and military cropped jacket. Now, I’m searching for a funnel neck top. Armchair shopping never ends!
I’ve missed your comments! Welcome back. I was looking at that military jacket again on eBay – I’ve wanted it forever – but never buy it. I don’t know of why…
Thanks, Grechen! It’s great to be back. Unfortunately, I had to return the jacket because it was too tight for “the girls.” What’s weird is that it was a size 3, which normally works for me in JP. So size up if you buy it.
