Rituel de Fille lip sheer in “blackthorn”
First, whoa…this lip color! I picked it up on Saturday when I went to Credo with my sister, and I really like it, but not when my mouth is open or I’m smiling LOL. It’s sort of creepy looking!!
Also, I’m really torn on these pants.ย I love them, but I also think they’re too big and I should just cut my losses now, sell them, and order the size 6 regular length.ย But then again, I am not uncomfortable in them, and they’re not falling off me, and I like the way they look, so why not keep them?? I posted this on Instagram also, and a reader/fellow ES aficionado offered to send me her pair of size 6 (tall length, clay color, but that’s okay!) to try and see if I like the way they fit better. How generous is that?? What a wonderful community ๐
So, before I sell these, I will try those and see what I think.ย I just think there’s a bit too much fabricย on these, and sometimes I think they could be a teeny bit longer.
The sandals I’ve had since last summer, but I don’t really love them on me.ย They are my attempt at finding a cheaper alternative to my holy grail platform sandals, which I bought and turned out not to be able to walk in.ย So, these are an excellent fall back, although I don’t love the way they look on me.ย They are amazing to walk in though – so comfortable, and bouncy ๐
Happy Monday!!!
Its not you, those sandals would look awful on anyone. Maybe not Peppermint Patty.
Have a great week.
Honestly, I’m firmly in the “if you don’t love it don’t keep it” camp. Your clothing is there to make you feel awesome and beautiful and confident, so if it’s not living up to those expectations, it would probably be better served in someone else’s closet.
I love that lipstick (sort of looks like the old 90s standard black honey from clinique ๐ I don’t think it looks weird when you smile at all. But if you’re not used to color at all, I can see it might be a little shocking.
I started to sort seasonal clothing this weekend – did put away the heavy sweaters, but it’s not quite time to get out the sandals yet, alas….And my “middle of the road” clothing are used year round…..Did get one pile ready to donate – clothing that’s too small and I don’t think I’d wear even when I am that size again…..
I think it’s just a problem of too much baggy. Try the pants with a fitted tee. It’s always nice to have some super baggy loungey pants.
My understanding is that the Clydes are TTS in the canvas due to the stiffness of the fabric, whereas you can size down in the linen (seems to be true for the work pant and the culotte) – you follow selltradees on Insta, no? There’s Q&A there all the time, ask there.
I was thinking the same, a fitted top might be the trick. I also feel like a shorter length although G said she prefers longer.
I was thinking the same, a fitted top might be the trick. I also feel like a shorter length although G said she prefers longer. Also, I do have some pants in two sizes to wear with different tops/shoes. Lululemon’s fly with me for example. I have an 8 in black (slouchy/loose & great with a fitted tank) and a 6 in olive (more fitted and good with a loose T/sweater or for pilates in lieu of leggings).
The pants are great, but if you don’t love them, why not tailor them? Especially since you are wanting shorter and less fabric? Go slowly, a little at a time to make them perfect!
Yes! Black Honey is still a favorite and I buy a new one every few years. I love that it’s sheer! I like the idea of lip stains and color, but you either have to reapply a million times, it tastes or smells weird, it’s drying and too stark/opaque, or the color wasn’t well represented and the part that sticks clashes with your skin. Burt’s Bees Balm for LIFE, I guess.
I can totally relate Tomas I have the same issue with my ES linen Tildas. I ordered in my regular size (medium) and they were quite baggy so I had them tailored down but somehow they still seem loose-fitting and I donโt reach for them much at all. (My intention was to mainly wear them under my Harper dress and longer tunic styles). Yet I have trouble letting them go as I think they still have a place in my wardrobe and I waited so long for them!
To be honest, I wish I had bitten the bullet and returned them immediately and reordered a size down instead of trying to fix it myself.
*relate to this (not Tomas)
I’m having the same sandal struggle!! I got some Ugg ones over the weekend, but they are too bouncy and I just don’t love them. Back to the drawing board ๐
Good point, Tania! Also, I’m not sure that going down one size would get rid of the pant volume as much as you would like, Grechen. As to length, I think if you want to go longer, you need to really go longer. To me, this kind of volume looks good long, or short, but not really in between.
yes, that’s what i’m thinking. on both counts. i’m just trying way too hard to make these work for me and they don’t. tailoring wouldn’t help these, so maybe a longer pair of size 6, or maybe not these pants at all……..
For my fit, the Clyde Culottes in Canvas look a little roomy in front, but just right in the view from the rear. And, I can easily put my hands in the pockets. So many of the reviews I’ve read have the wearer say the pockets are tight on them…to me, that means the pants are too tight, but to each his own.
In your photo, the pants look like they are riding down off your natural waist. Probably a size down would be perfect.
To my eye, I think they could use some tailoring as they appear too big and too long. How wonderful that you can try on the size smaller and see the difference! I have not purchased an ES piece yet. I’m interested in trying the Florence pants in navy linen in short. I think the exterior pockets of the Clyde work pants would add bulk on my frame ( and not in a good way). The Andy trousers are very intriguing as they look flowy and fun on the models, but I’m worried they are too tapered at the ankle.
Did you end up trying the Clydes in the 6-Tall? What did you think of that size? I just got a pair in that size, and am conflicted. They are definitely ‘too tall’ for me – I’m 5’3 – but if I roll the waist band once, they are pretty much full length pants on me, and I kinda dig them. I adore the dramatic cut/material/pockets – pretty much everything about them. But, they really aren’t meant to be full length seen as they’re culottes and all. So, I’m wavering back and forth on keeping or moving on – but curious to hear how you liked the fit of them – perspective is everything sometimes ๐
yes, i did try the 6 tall in the clydes and loved how they fit, except the length and the inseam was just a bit too long, but only a little. I’d probably order the 6 regular for myself, not the short again.
the tall has a longer inseam too, so if you really like the way they fit except the length, i would hem them (i’d get tired of rolling the waistband! i’ve done that on some things, but find it annoying after a while).
i cannot WAIT to order a new pair of the clyde culottes for fall!! i really enjoyed the shape of them when i could wear them ๐
