I’m back for good this week; back to a “normal” schedule, and I’ll be posting every day again. I miss my mother, but we had a great time together, and I suppose it’s time to get back to real life.
Speaking of real life…here are a couple of outfits I wore last week featuring my new Patti linen shell from Elizabeth Suzann (they sent it to me to review for you a couple weeks ago). I’ve worn it a handful of times since I received it – thanks to the super-hot weather here – and I really love it. It’s such a simple piece, but with impact.
The medium is a great fit for me, although it does stretch a bit with wear (it is 100% linen). I wouldn’t have sized down in this even with the stretch; I’d like to be able to layer it over a t-shirt or maybe a long sleeve shirt at some point and I prefer the drapey, loose fit of the medium. FYI, I usually take small or mediums in most brands, and my Rhodes sweater from Elizabeth Suzann’s collaboration with Kordal earlier this year is also a medium and runs small in my opinion.
So far I’ve just worn this over a bra, but I’ll also try layering it later this week if it stays cool. It’s quite sheer, and you can definitely see my bra through it, but I really couldn’t GAF at this point. It’s not immodest in my opinion. It’s a bra.
As you can see, I do the half-tuck (not sure how successfully LOL) with it sometimes, and wear it out sometimes – I like it both ways. And this color is beautiful.
*thumbs up emoji*
I’ll post some more pictures this week of the Patti layered; hopefully it will turn out to be a great multi-seasonal piece. I’d also imagine it would be great for traveling since it’s super lightweight, won’t wrinkle, and makes a great layering piece.
Did anyone order and receive the Patti shell? What did you think of it?
Happy Monday!! I hope you have a beautiful week 🙂
I wanted the Patti Shell, but the price + a review I saw on STES’s Instagram dissuaded me from it. The person said that it stretched out too much and wasn’t anything special for the price. I am in love with the sage color and it looks so great on people when I see it on, but I’m torn about how it will hold up.
i read that review too. here’s my .02 on the stretching: it stretches, a little, but honestly, it’s hardly noticeable. if you look at my pictures, the first two with the JP skirt were after i’d worn the top already 3 or 4 times, and the one with the EF pants might have been the second time? or even the first. I don’t remember. anyway, whatever stretching there is doesn’t bother me in the least. i also just washed it and put it on right now and it looks wonderful. i’ll try and post a picture of today’s outfit on instagram…
as for the price. that’s a tough one. i’m definitely not a good judge of that for anyone else but myself, and that’s beside the fact that I didn’t have to pay for this piece. i did pay for my rebekka kimono and while i wish it had been “cheaper,” i’m not sure the price isn’t warranted, if that makes sense. maybe i’m a bit naive in that way though, and i pay what people are asking – especially if they’re designing and creating themselves.
i think whether or not something is “worth it” is so dependent on a myriad of factors, and very individual, so i find that hard to comment on…
i love it, and will wear it a ton 🙂
You look great! I like the top but don’t really need it. Saving my ES credit for the signature release. I love the JP skirt. That’s something I might need. The Eileen Fisher systems skirt I bought this year has not held up well. It stretched out a lot. Am tempted to put it in the dryer!
the JP skirt is really cool. i’m glad i got the size 3 though. it’s a bit big in the waist, but if i pull it down to wear it sits lower on my hips it’s fine. it does twist a little while i walk ….
how is your elise dress wearing?
The good: I love it! It’s comfortable and looks great. I’ve worn it twice, both times with a denim jacket and ES mules.
The not-so-good: The first time I work it it snagged. I gently pulled the snag through the back. The second time I wore it I found two snags. Not sure if the first one came back through or it it’s two new snags. Hopefully it’s not a snag-per-wear situation.
Am certain to wear it again this week as it’s now the perfect weather for it.
not to laugh at the situation but LOL at “snag per wear” 😉
that’s what i am afraid of with knit dresses or bottoms. not so much with tops for some reason, and not really with this top – i think it might add to it’s character? oddly enough i haven’t snagged it yet…
Thank you for your .02, I appreciate it! Stretching isn’t a major deal breaker since I tend to prefer things slightly oversized anyway, and I totally agree with you, I always feel that the price of ES pieces are justified — their quality is far superior to anything else I own.
I’m not in a field that makes a lot of money and so in this case, my thought process is: my monthly shopping savings goes to a linen shell that I love but likely won’t get much wear out of for another 6 months, or do I put that $220 towards part of my next months savings and get the $360 Clyde Jacket which is more of an immediate need? As you said, affordability is a very personal issue! I just couldn’t justify the price for my life at this point… but I’ll keep my eyes peeled for anyone who’s selling theirs in the spring 🙂
immediate needs always win out in my book 😉
i agree with your thought process totally…i am generally not willing to spend $$ on things i won’t wear in the very near future. that’s why i’m so bad at sale shopping!! or waiting 4-6 weeks for pieces LOL
That first photo! You look BEAUTIFUL!!!
thank you lisa!! 🙂
Laurie…are you saying the Elise dress in woven stretch cotton is getting snags?
I’m considering buying that dress before it leaves the collection next week…cheryl
butting in, but i think she’s talking about the new knit elise dress…
Thanks Grechen…I had forgotten that the new knit version is also called the Elise…
BTW, you look fabulous in the shell !!
It’s the knit version that has snagged, not the woven one.
