This skirt has been a workhorse in my wardrobe. I’ve had it for years; I don’t remember exactly when I got it, but I want to say 2008 or 2009? Actually, as far as I can tell from searching the archives, it first surfaces in 2009 (um…LOL at my pose/face/everything!!). I had worn it more as an around-the-house skirt the last several years, since it had some stains on it. Now, it’s quite large on me, and I like it better that way, so I venture out in it from time to time (I removed the stains!).
The tank top is also very old – I don’t know why I don’t have one of these in white. I’ve had the hardest time finding an opaque white tank top that’s still relatively fitted. I like my Everlane Ryan tanks, but they’re not what I want for wearing with cardigans and jeans/and or slouchy pants. I do have several white James Perse racerback tanks, but they’re very sheer and I’m tired of messing with racerbacks…I don’t like to think so much about which bra to wear.
I also don’t wear tanks or sleeveless shirts much other than around the house or to Pure Barre because I honestly don’t feel fully dressed without sleeves. And I like to keep my shoulders/upper arms covered from the sun. Today, it was just too hot to even care. And I mostly spent time at an outdoor shopping center, so I didn’t NEED to have sleeves anyway. Although of course, I froze to death whenever I went inside a store and couldn’t wait to get back outside. Ugh.
And, as you can see, my upper arms are still quite flabby – in spite of all the work I do on them in Pure Barre. A lot of that is hereditary, but I hope with more weight loss I can minimize that even more. And those little bits of fat at my underarms drive me BATTY!! I don’t really care that much how they look anymore, I just feel like I’m working so hard, they should be gone! But that’s not always the way it works – you can’t target where you lose fat when you lose weight. On me, my boobs always shrink first when I lose weight. Not exactly where I want it to come from!!
Anyway, I know I said yesterday it’s too hot for outfits, but since I actually wore something moderately photo-worth yesterday, I thought I’d post it. And yes, in case you ever wondered, the outfits I post are actually what I WEAR. π

Grechen, I know why I love your website so much…it’s b/c my taste in clothes are very similar to yours. I love how you look in this picture…a casual chic-“ness”! And you know what? you are beautiful. You don’t need to worry about your arms or whatever else body part b/c you’re a lovely woman just as you are.
thanks henny π
i’m not worried so much as i am frustrated i guess. i work very hard on my arms, and still…i have the jiggle LOL – no big deal, i just find it ever so slightly annoying!
oh, and i meant to say too, that i’m going to try the recipe you put on your site for lemon blueberry pancakes this weekend π i’ve been craving pancakes, but try not to eat gluten very often…these look very good!
Grechen, thanks for looking at my site! Now I need to go and update that…it’s been awhile. I hope you will try those pancakes…they were really YUM! π
I echo Henny’s sentiment: Stop that!!! You’ve worked so hard, for so long on that wonderful body, that can do Pure Barre, for heaven’s sake! Be kind to yourself. You deserve it.
And she’s right, that you look casually chic!
You look great. This is exactly where I want to take my weekend wardrobe. I work in an environment where I’m at a desk or in meetings most of the day, but frequently have to go out to construction sites and don protective safety gear (oh so flattering neon yellow safety vests and steel toed boots), and get dusty. On the weekend I want to be comfortable, but still look put together. I’ve been collecting maxi dresses (only 2 because weekends are short, how many do you need), but a good maxi skirt is still missing.
thank you! this skirt is really good, and interestingly enough, it’s the only “wearable” maxi skirt i have left. i do have a black JP one, but it’s really fitted up top and flared at the bottom, a shape i’ve never really loved that much. i did order this splendid one that should arrive today – i’d been wanting it, but trying to see if i could do without it…but i don’t think i can π
I just ordered a grey maxi skirt from GAP: http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=941554012
I didn’t want to spend much cuz I mostly plan to wear it around the house. And let’s face it, I’ve got “champagne taste but a beer budget”!
Such a comfy look!
