Dagny photo bomb 🙂
I love a long, slim skirt. Did you know that? The harder to walk in, the better. I kid, but I really like the line a long, super-slim skirt creates. I have, of course, a great one by James Perse, but an am always looking for others. Especially knit versions; I LOVE knit bottoms lately after getting the Han Starnes knit pants.
Anyway, when the new season Lauren Manoogian started popping up on Garmentory, I fell in love with everything, but I could never get this skirt out of my head. First, THE COLOR. What a beautiful color. And second, look at that little pocket 🙂 haha…I started creating outfits with this skirt in my head and when I finally earned enough credits* to buy it, I pounced. I ordered the size 2, which is a medium I think.
I tried it on with everything I own as soon as it arrived, and then ended up wearing it with what I was already wearing yesterday (my Organic by John Patrick sweater & ES mules) for the rest of the day. I spent it at home, but whatever. Oh, and I did trade out the ES mules for my AllBirds loungers. I worked, played with Dagny in the yard, vacuumed, did laundry, etc., and was super-comfortable the whole time. And the stretching I was worried about didn’t happen, yet. Maybe the small amount of wool in the skirt keeps it from stretching as much as 100% cotton does?
It’s a little warm TBH, when I’m in the sun. I won’t be able to wear it in temps above 80 degrees, at least if I’m going to be outside much. But it will be a great skirt for spring/fall, and I hope to get a lot of use out of it until summer, which will be here before I know it.
I’m finding that I tend to want to wear one item of “color” in my outfits lately, and usually it’s my FEIT mules, which are similar to the color of this skirt (which sadly means I can’t wear them with it…) and I’m pleased to have another piece to throw in the mix. I’m trying desperately to figure out a way to wear this skirt to Florida this weekend, but I know I won’t want to wear it there (I’ll be outside at an arts festival most of the time!). But I did play around with a potential airplane outfit – the linen shirt, sneakers and long cardigan – and tried my best “Totokaelo” styling, although a crisp, cropped white shirt would have worked much better than this linen one.
Anyway, this is a big hit for me, welcome after my bust with the Ozma linen jacket was so disappointing. I know it will pill, and I know I won’t be able to wear it ALL THE TIME, but this skirt sparks all kinds of joy for me 🙂
