With my new hairstyle comes the challenge: how can I get the nice “piece-i-ness” that I want, without the stickiness & shininess from product that I DON’T want. Also, without spending a zillion dollars on product. For one, I could not use the Bumble & Bumble Brilliante that’s been in my drawer for several years; it’s too shiny. But what do I use? Any suggestions?
Also, I know a lot of you guys were interested in the Etoile Isabel Marant skirt – so here are some details: Mine is a size 38, it’s double-layered, so no chance of see-through, and although it says you can wash the skirt, I haven’t because I’m too scared to ruin it; I dry-clean the skirt periodically and it’s worked well. It’s a bit delicate, but not so much that it’s going to fall apart, I just mean that you should be careful not to step on it…which I did, and tore it a little at the front seam. But I sewed it back together! TOTALLY 100% worth it, especially on sale, and especially if you KNOW you’ll live in it, like I did.
Here are two options from Aveda:
On the main styling product page it says this product “creates piece-y texture.”

I’ve actually used this product before to get piece-yness in my bangs.

thanks Anne! i actually have the light elements stuff and feel like it’s too light for my hair, but works well for bangs. i’ll check out the other product as well. since i’ve had short hair off and on i’ve tried a lot of products, but i’ve forgotten my favorites!!
Kevin Murphy NIGHT RIDER texture paste. a) it really is the bomb and b) you get to think of The Hoff every time you use it.
LOL – i will seek that out.
i was addicted to that show when it was on TV. although i will always prefer tom selleck to hasselhoff:

I was going to suggest a wax product, and one of them is the one that Anne suggested: Aveda Control Paste. I love that. Also, bumble and bumble Sumo Wax is a good one for piecey texture.
Thank you so much for your advice on the skirt! I am now the proud owner of one. So, so flattering and lovely.
i bought the shirt today – hopefully i can dress it up for my upcoming business trip – thanks for the heads up girl!
