I’m in Florida (!) right now, so this is an outfit I wore on Friday at home. Today, I’m wearing my Black Crane bud dress 🙂
Also, this lighting issue is why I haven’t been taking “selfies” in my office lately – I prefer them in the other room, but that room doesn’t have a mirror so I have to use my backdrop, which means they’re not selfies, but they’re still spontaneous outfit posts, never fear.
I was actually considering two things as I chose this outfit:
- Possibly ordering a pair of the new Cecilia pants from Elizabeth Suzann early next year. I don’t wear slim pants very often, but I do like to have them available when I do want to wear them, and these are great for that (and amazing for travel – more substantial than leggings – I do almost always bring them when I travel), but I have always had a small problem with the bunching at the knees. Instead of buying a new pair, I’m going to take these to my tailor and try and have the knee taken in a little bit first, but that always makes me nervous, because then what if they’re ruined? I guess it can’t get any worse, right?
- Also, I have been going through my closet and getting rid of a lot of things lately; I just have too much and not enough opportunity to wear it. I know…this is a never-ending cycle for me, and once I thought I kicked it, it came back with a vengeance. This haori coat was on deck for purging, so I pulled it out to wear another time – that usually helps me determine once and for all whether I want to keep something or not. And I’m keeping it, at least through next spring (LSJ season!). It’s really big on me, and since I’m short, looks EXTRA big, but it will come in handy sometimes, and I do admire the quality. Honestly though, I like the Elizabeth Suzann rebekkah kimono better, on me, and in general, so I can probably get by with just that…
Has anyone ordered or received a new pair of Cecilia pants from Elizabeth Suzann? What do you think of them, or can you compare them with the old sizing? (she also updated the zipper I see, which is nice…).
Happy Monday!!!
Love your office! I don’t have my own work/writing space now that I’ve moved and live with my BF in the city. I haven’t blogged now (or written) for several years but do want to start again. So I’m a bit envious of your space. I want to order something from Elizabeth Suzann (I haven’t tried her line yet), perhaps a dress or a jumpsuit but can never make up my mind on which pieces so I always end up putting a bunch of items in my cart and leaving in a fit of indecision. Everything looks fabulous so it is hard for me to narrow it down. I also want her origami bag but it sold out while I was still hemming and hawing. If she has the bag again, I am placing it in my card and checking out immediately!
I do like this outfit on you and I have the same coat. I wear my coat constantly and I’m shorter than you. I do find it looks the most flattering on me with a dress on (knee length ) or with something skinny on the legs, like a legging. If I wear it with another type of pant, it needs to be rolled up so the ankles are showing. I do have thin ankles and smaller calves (the only small part of me at the current point in time) so I think the contrast works. I have the coat in black and also the patchwork version (& I still drool over the new colors that come out, I want them all!). The style fits in very well at my workplace (museum) and it looks arty and I love the pockets for holding my badge, phone etc. as I was around. I can see how the ES kimono works well for you, it is a straighter cut and the sleeves are little closer cut. But the Delphine looks great on you too.
Sorry I’m not helping with the closet cleaning 🙂 I just spent Sunday evening cleaning mine out and I clearly have too many handbags, black dresses and outerwear. Also trays and trays of jewelry, much of it too girly or rocker for my current style. I watch minimalism, small space tours, organization and closet clean out videos while I do it. Karen Brit Chick recently did a youtube video on her coat cleanout (she has amazing style and 75 coats from vintage to H&M to Dior). It’s an entertaining video to keep you laughing as you attack your own closet. It is not the typical cleanout video. She’s not sustainable but you may enjoy it.
HI DAGNY!!!!!! You cutie, its so good to see your beautiful face relaxing in your new digs with mommy at work.
Love those Common Projects sneakers…
🙂 she is soooo happy !!
I’m pretty sure I’m getting a pair of Cecilia pants for Christmas. I’ve been wanting them for a while but hadn’t pulled the trigger because I never wear skinny pants and I wasn’t sure if I would love them/would they be comfortable to justify the price point. My one and only asked for another present idea and I sent him a link. ;). I told him to get me the 4 reg, but since my hips are a 2 and my waist is a 4 I’m not sure how they will work. Also he asked how I liked the Ella slip dress and of course I said I loved it, but another sizing issue crept up as I am Medium in the bust and small in the waist and hips, so I wasn’t sure if I got the medium would it be too flowy and if I got the small would it be too tight. In the end I’m not sure if he got me the dress and the pants or just just the pants, but either way I am very excited!
I like that they are not too tight like skinny jeans but still slim! They are on my list for sure.
oh!!! i’ll be waiting for a full report after you get whatever you get 😉
what an amazing SO you have!!
He really is the best! However I did think…”I need to get him something else now too” ?
Bunching at the knee usually means the calf is tight! I would first check if the tailor can let out the calves instead of taking in the knee.
