wearing: Madewell skirt | L’agence tee | Steve Madden Sandals | J.W. Hulme Bag | Spexclub Glasses
I love black & gray, but of course you know this 🙂 Actually with this outfit, I’d totally wear a bright orange bag or (NOT and) shoes if I had them, because gray and orange is one of my favorite color combinations.
Today with the skirt, I knotted one side up so it wouldn’t be so long. This totally changes the look of the skirt actually; it makes it more tulip-style and fitted instead of long and flowy. Which is nice sometimes. And while I had been holding out hopes for a code or a sale so I could get the skirt also in gray, I think I’m going to pass. I mentioned that the waistband (the elastic inside) is totally messed up now, and it does affect the front pleats of the skirt. It’s hard to explain, and while it’s not THAT bad, it’s not great, and certainly not acceptable for an $80 skirt. Maybe if I’d dry-cleaned it like the instructions say (I always cold water wash stuff that say dry clean though!) the waistband wouldn’t have twisted/folded up…I don’t know. I do still love the skirt, and wear it all the time, but I think I’ll pass on getting another one. For just $30 more dollars I can get another T by Alexander Wang dress in heather gray…
i want that cuff! 🙂 where is it from?
oh..that’s either fenton or fallon (i forget which!) and i got it via gilt last year sometime…not sure it’s available anymore…
its a great piece!
I love how a simple knot changes the entire look of the skirt! Bummer that the waist band is all messed up because it really is a great closet basic.

i know. i’m disappointed, but i’ll keep wearing it!
Both you and Sydney have talked about that cute asymmetical T by Alexander Wang dress in such glowing terms, that I really REALLY want to get one now!!! Does that make it a need?? (I’ll inform my husband, if so!)
it is amazing val! nearly everyone i know who has one, has multiples. it’s that great.
looove your glasses and the way you styled the skirt! looking cool and chic as usual 🙂

As they say, one can never go wrong with the basics. I like the cuffs because it gave an edge to your outfit while the color of your bag breaks the gray-black motif and made it more girly. If you didn’t mention that you knotted the skirt, I wouldn’t have noticed it. You really gave the skirt a twist of your own style which is really nice. 🙂
