Elizabeth Suzann Florence pants (secondhand) | medium, regular
Birkenstock Arizona sandals (secondhand)
After “modeling” these last week, I decided to buy them for myself and proceeded to wear them all weekend (mostly with just a PACT organic cotton camisole, I’ll be honest). I never thought I was a “flax linen” person (a little too hippie for me?) but it turns out I love the lighter color. After trying the ultra-white Kamm pants, I’ve been finding lighter colored bottoms appealing; I can wear them with all of my black tops. I’m not great at monochromatic dressing…
Anyway, the medium, regular is the right size for me. The elastic waist is very comfortable, but I wouldn’t want it any smaller, especially when sitting. Testing out garments while sitting is so important and something we often overlook…but as I’ve finally come to terms with, looking good, and feeling good while standing in front of a mirror can be deceptive! It’s sitting for sometimes hours at a time, or getting up and down and moving around in a garment that REALLY determines how much wear it will get in my own wardrobe.
My problem now, is that I have a pair of these in black on order at ES. I have no doubt I’ll love those too, but now I no longer feel like I want them, or need them; I’d rather have something else. No problem, I can return them, or sell them, and get something else, but that means waiting another 6-7 weeks. UGH. Elizabeth Suzann would have ALL MY MONEY if there wasn’t such a long wait time.
Anyway, I have also decided that I’m going to use the gift the company sent me recently on the Andy Trousers in Black silk, size medium, regular. I haven’t seen a whole lot of reviews/outfits with the Andy Trouser around, so I feel like that would be a great use for such a generous gift. And I have wanted a pair of those since they launched; I find the slightly narrower leg very appealing.
I have decided that it’s time to sell my silk florence pants, and I lived in those all fall/winter last year, so I definitely need a smaller replacement, and I’d rather try the Andy trouser than getting another pair of florence pants. I’m also considering selling my linen harper top – I just don’t wear that very much because I have to pair it with slimmer bottoms, or leggings and I don’t wear either of those much during the summer. I’m glad I have it in my wardrobe, but I’ve been thinking about the things I have and keep, and determined that I want a main qualification for my keeping an item to be : if it wore out, or I lost it, or something happened to it, would I want to replace it with the same thing? If so, it’s a keeper. If not, maybe it’s time to let it go. I don’t think I’d replace the harper tunic with another one if something happened to mine…
I am so grateful I’ve had the opportunity to try so many Elizabeth Suzann pieces – they really can be workhorses in a wardrobe, but it’s a little challenging to find the right sizes/styles. Hopefully these posts help a little? Your input and comments do as well.
Thank you for participating and contributing to this little community 🙂
Happy Monday!!
You might be able to change that order you currently have, depending on how far it is into production. You can always email CS and see. I’ve been able to change mine in the past to completely different items, I think it depends on whether they’ve put them into a production plan. The flax linen is my favorite ES material, it gets so soft after washing and the color is really pretty. I don’t know how the Andy fits but I do like my Harper quite a bit with my tilda pants- tapered but not fitted. If you end up trying those you might find that your Harper gets a new life with that combo.
I’ve never been able to trust myself in light colored pants! You look great in those and I’m glad you kept them. I can’t wait to see you in the Andy trousers.
I wore the Mara jumpsuit this weekend. I realized the linen will probably loosen up a little once worn and the size will be alright. I still like it tied behind best but my husband likes it tied in front. Of course. 🙂
I’ve been contemplating selling my es Harper and Tilda pants in exchange for the Clyde dress. I go back and forth. Big decision!
I wore my Georgia Midi in flax over the weekend and now I’m thinking about selling it. I felt like a big sack of potatoes. It’s a OS and maybe the OSM would have been a better more snug fit, but I have massive shoulders and I can’t stand for things to be tight there. I recently bought some Eileen Fisher linen pants with pockets and I love them. I have been wearing them all the time. The back waist band is elastic and the front is flat. And they sit a little above my hips which is so much more me than high waisted pants. It’s made me reconsider my linen flos. :/
I just sold mine for the same reason. This year it just felt entirely too big and I have gotten other dresses I like so much better.
I bought a raw silk Georgia on STES and felt the same way in mine — I also have broad shoulders in comparison to the rest of my body, and the whole dress felt so one-dimensional and frumpy. I have a CP Shades linen dress that is more fitted up in the shoulders which somehow just makes the whole thing much more flattering and streamlined, so I sold my Georgia and am just appreciating that I already had something that worked!
I’m not a flax linen person either but these look great on you. I used to dislike linen and I think I was thinking more of flax and white like people would wear on a tropical vacation ha ha (even though I live in a tropical vacation destination). Now half my closet is linen and still looks very urban and office appropriate (vs mai tai on the whale watching cruise).
I keep eyeing the Andy trousers but I’ve decided not to buy any more pants until I need to (i.e I lose weight and drop a size or two). My closet is bursting and I’ve started to exercise more. Now I need to roll in more plants to my diet and cut out the sugar. So I hate to spend $$ on pants and only wear them a short bit of time (not to mention the ordering lag!). But I have Andy’s on my list for later when I reach my goal weight.
I don’t notice the ES lag for about 3 or 4 weeks. Then the last 2 weeks I feel very anxious about it (where is my package?!). Right now I’m anxiously awaiting my Maya jumpsuit in silk. I thought they were changing their policy? Not sure about the effective date of that policy but I may like it less if the items I want were always sold out. I put so much thought into my ES purchases that once I am ready to pull the trigger, I want to pull it then. I’d rather order and wait rather than keep checking for the purchasing to re-open. But if I start to lose weight, a 2 week wait may be better at that point as one could lose a size in 6 weeks.
They’ve already changed their ordering structure and if I understand correctly, they haven’t had to close orders yet, but it also hasn’t brought down wait times at all.
I recently bought black linen Andys but now I kind of wish I had finally purchased a pair of Florence pants. They look so good on you! Florence pants and the Harper top are the items I most often wish could add to my collection, yet somehow I always end up buying something else. So weird.
I should clarify, I’m talking about the linen Florence pants! You’ve convinced me that flax is the way to go!
