I don’t know how I don’t have more linen dresses than I do. I do have the secondhand linen gauze ES harper dress and my very old Emerson Fry linen caftan, but that was it, until I decided to buy this dress that came for Slowre (it has pockets!!). Linen is just SO GOOD, and all I want to wear now with this heat. As I mentioned before, I do wear the Elizabeth Suzann dress at home quite a bit, but I don’t love it. And the Emerson Fry caftan doesn’t have pockets, which is sort of a deal-breaker for me lately, in terms of what I choose to wear; I have to go up and down the stairs so often, and get winded sometimes at the top (I know…ugh…) so I need to have my hands free to hold on to the railing.
Anyway, you may have seen by now that a group of bloggers has resolved to post an outfit every day, notably Andrea for 99 days, and Karin (who is pregnant also!), who is doing 30 days of outfits. Since Andrea gave me a shout-out recently for being an OG outfit blogger (15 years!!), I thought maybe I’d try to post outfits more often too. We’ll see how far I get LOL.
I had a sonogram appointment today so had to get dressed anyway… 🙂
I love the color of that! Question – do you find linen to be itchy or scratchy at all? I have tried to love linen so hard, but it always feels super scratchy to me. I have even purchased some really nice, high quality linen (with the intention to make a dress), and it’s just scratchy. Even stuff that has been washed and worn, which I have been told makes it softer, still feels too scratchy to me. I can tolerate some linen jersey blends, but those are usually more sheer than I like. Maybe linen just isn’t the fiber for me!
i have never had a problem with linen being too scratchy. now, my knit linen/cotton blends sometimes take a little getting used to (lauren manoogian), but always softens up with wear/washing. have you tried drying your linen? i actually prefer to dry it most times, but always on low and accounting for some shrinkage if it’s not already pre-washed. i LOVE THE FEEL of linen that’s been dried, it’s so soft and cozy. i have a couple of linen blankets that I always dry to keep them soft.
maybe, sadly, you just have an aversion to linen??
I love this outfit – you look great! It’s something I’d wear now. I’m finding that I’m drawn to linen more and more…and I like the wrinkle factor! Did you get registered for baby stuff yet? If so, please let us know. <3
I didn’t realize you didn’t have much linen dresses. I guess you mainly have tops? Most of my dresses are linen (Elizabeth Suzann, Rachel Craven, Black Crane, Pyne and Smith , The Tiny Closet and random ones from local boutiques that stock mainly from Korea or Japan). It is really a magic fabric and I can’t believe I didn’t buy in when I was younger.
Love the color of the dress you are wearing here.
i know, it’s weird that i don’t have a lot of linen. I guess i have had more pieces, but end up selling them. my “problem” with linen is how much it stretches out and sort of “billows” on me….
i can’t wait to be able to wear my ES linen florence pants again…
love linen wrinkles 🙂
i’m working on finishing up my registries today. i’ll share the links with anyone who asks, i just don’t want to make them public. anyway, it feels weird doing registries anyway, as a 46-year old LOL, but family/friends are asking so…….
Please share with me. I feel like I’ve “known” you for a long time and I’m so excited about baby R and want to gift him to welcome him to this world. 🙂
I love linen! Especially in summer, but I love it year round. Quality definitely matters, scratchy is never good, some quality linens are smooth and crisp and others have a lovely softness. I also love how a great linen shirt or dress gets better with age (softer, subtle shifts in color).
Yes, please do more outfits! I just love it. I’ve been documenting my outfits though I’m no longer posting on IG or anything, mostly for photographic evidence, because I feel like the things that I think look good in the mirror usually look bad in photos and vice versa, and I’m trying to figure out why. I’m really trying to be intentional about every part of my look and figure out what is working for me and what isn’t.
Anyway, there’s nothing I love more than maternity OOTD pics! XO
Hey Grechen, love your outfits, thanks for sharing them! You’ve been killing it with chic and original maternity outfits.
I wanted to make sure that Renee of Goblin Shark got credit since she first posted about her summer outfit series that inspired the others you mentioned who are doing the same: https://goblinshark.blog/2019/05/30/100-outfits-in-100-days-a-project-for-a-burned-out-blogger/
