This is such a boring, but incredibly practical outfit. You see, it was supposed to rain yesterday, and when it rains, I always wear my Play x CdG sneakers. But it didn’t rain yesterday; it turned out to be quite a beautiful day, sometimes not even a cloud in the sky. So, I was hot wearing so much denim, and with my toes covered, but I managed. I met a friend at Starbucks early for a fabulous brainstorming session, which is always cold anyway, and then ran some errands with my step-son.
And squeezed some play time on the floor with Dagny in between :
I’m ready for the weekend, are you? Next weekend we’ll be on our way to Atlanta for a little family vacation time and for July 4th, so I know next week will FLY BY trying to get ready. Speaking of that, I will be working while on vacation since there’s a BIG SALE COMING, but I’d also like to work on scheduling some posts. So, tell me, what are you looking for that I can help you find???
Happy Friday!!
Hello Grechen,
I just found your blog and after reading through it, bought my first James Perse tee in the Fig colorway, I just love it. I plan on adding more James Perse to my wardrobe in the coming months because I love a modern, streamlined wardrobe. Your blog is wonderful and I love your taste!
Sooo…big sale coming? Hmmmm – hope James Perse might be in there somewhere!
Thanks!
I’m still dogging that silky white patch pocket shirt I saw on the video that I had sent a screen shot to you from the other day. I found out who the lady is & went right to her people. Haven’t heard back yet, but no news can be good news.
Brave girl wearing denim jeans & long-sleeves in June. In Texas. In Summer. And you aren’t even rustling cattle.
Thank you becky! I’m so glad you’re here 🙂
there are some great james perse pieces on sale at Nordstrom & nordstrom rack right now – i posted about them today at grechenscodes.com –
and yes, just keep your eye out here for big sale info!!
Grechen, I would love it if you could find some attractive short-sleeve sweaters (not cardigans) that would look appropriate with my Banana Republic Jackson tropical wool trousers (I have them in black, navy and med. gray). I like the idea of a short-sleeve sweater for late summer going into fall, as it’s cool and looks polished. I recently bought a beautiful green short-sleeve linen sweater at Talbots that I’m excited about wearing.
Also, in years past I have been able to find dressier knit tops to wear with these trousers. One in particular that I’ve owned for several years came from Talbots and is a short-sleeve, black/cream bold floral print with a self-tie. For such a simply cut piece, it looks far more dressy than a plain T-shirt and it’s both work- and church-appropriate. And it’s comfortable and not fussy at all! I’d like to find nicer knit tops that have interesting details. I’ve been checking my usual sources with no luck.
Thanks for your sleuthing!
Everlane! Check out their short sleeve luxe sweater. I have the sleeveless one and love it and have been thinking of getting the short sleeve one as well (although I’m holding off until their luxe cardigan comes back in stock–which they tell me is supposed to happen any day.) It’s lightweight merino wool and just about perfect. I’ve worn mine as a sleeveless shell but also as a vest–fantastic both ways.
The colors of each piece are different enough to not be a “Texas Tuxedo”! I think it’s cute and casual. But long sleeves in TX heat? That’ll get you locked up!! 😉
I’m really searching for an “interesting” black dress…more abstract/less “normal. Something like your black OAK dress or Black Crane…and not too short!
