I still haven’t unpacked any of my shoes – I don’t know how this pair of boots ended up out, but since it’s sort of rainy today, this is what I’m wearing. Of course, the outfit would look better with my Rag & Bone harrow boots, but I wouldn’t wear those anyway, just for running errands. Or would I??
Back to these boots – I wish they were shorter, like right at the ankle – more like the Chad style by Fiorentini & Baker. I’ve thought bout folding them down (NOT so you can see the lining, which is bright and ugly) or even getting them cut/altered so they’re more like “shooties” instead of boots. The height of these isn’t ideal on my wider calves.
And can I just say how much of a pain it is to learn your way around a new place? I’m really good at directions and finding shortcuts, but I’m completely out of my element here, I get lost going to Target, which is right around the corner. Let alone navigating all the tollways and highways around here. Also, I’m having a hell of a time organizing myself INSIDE the house! I do have my own office now, which is truly amazing (it’s always been in our bedroom before), and we are in a much bigger space, but it’s really a challenge trying to find places for everything that had a place before, you know? Not that there isn’t room, just that it’s different. And I’ve about reached my limit of living out of boxes, so another trip to the Container Store might be in order…
Hope you’re having a good week 🙂
I can relate to this post. When we moved to Maine, I was lost for a long time. We’ve only been here for over a year, and I finally feel at home. (I know where to find good coffee and great cashmere!) Once you know your way around, though, you’ll have fun exploring the city. In the meantime, I’d recommend a GPS, if you don’t already own one. We have a Garmin, and couldn’t have navigated without it.
On the other hand, the gradual mastery of your location feels so good.
BTW, love the outfit. I have those Fiorentini & Baker boots, the Eli. They are beautiful but their smallest size is a little too big for my size 6.5 foot:(. And, I have a request. I’d love to see what your photos looked like with a distant background? Feel free to say no, but what if you had the road/sidewalk behind you with sky? As I said, please ignore me as much as you like, it’s just a visual quirk I have.
I love that outfit! I agree that the boot height is probably not the best on you. They’re really gorgeous boots, though. Have you tried them with your bootcut jeans? I know they don’t have the pointy toe I’ve been advocating with those jeans, but if you had something to cover up the top of them so they don’t cut you in that spot, I think they could work. How about with maxi skirts? You have lots of those and they would cover up the tops. Would your Eileen Fisher harems work, or are their leg holes not big enough to go over the boot tops? (That might look a little odd.) Just some ideas!
Chic look!
Kristin
Super cute!!! I don’t think the boots are bad. The height is a bit edgy.
thanks laurel – i do tend to wear these mostly with long dresses/skirts and or my gap boyfriend jeans.
the harem pants wouldn’t work; they’d have to go inside the boots, creating the same look as here. i might try them with my j brand jeans, although the jeans might be too long for them. i really do like them best with long skirts/dresses or my gap jeans. should just stick to those looks LOL – but i didn’t have my shoes unpacked yesterday!!
true lisa.
i’d have to get out in the middle of the street to get any sky, but i might try that. hopefully no one will run me over!! and there’s still not much “sky” to be seen that way. our street is packed…not much “open” space i’m afraid!
i have navigation in my car, but it doesn’t know certain places exist i guess; she tried to take me further away than i needed to go…it does help to have it, but sometimes it’s more confusing!!
You look so chic and I think edgy is a good word for it. I love it! And I can’t believe how well-rested you look after a move!!
