This morning I saw Elissa & her husband as they were leaving Austin to head back to Dallas. And since I don’t often get the opportunity for someone else to take my outfit picture, Elissa kindly agreed to do it for me (thanks Elissa!). Also, since the website is in process – kind of, it’s still in the very early stages – I feel like I can mention what we’ve been working on together: a community for Fashion bloggers over 30. (As if I didn’t already have enough to do)
I’m really excited about this because I genuinely believe that (female) bloggers over 30 are under-represented in both the blogging & tech communities – unless they are “mommy” bloggers. And I definitely know that it’s not easy as a fashion/shopping blogger to find other bloggers my age to interact with. I saw a need for an “over-30” bloggers community, and am trying to fill it! If you are a fashion/style/beauty blogger and you’re over 30, please join us!! We’re working on some exciting things!!
Also, you may notice my darker hair…I decided to color it myself for a while to save on salon costs and used the new John Frieda foam color in “dark natural brown.” Dark pretty much sums it up!! I don’t mind it, but I’m not sure how much I really LIKE it. You know? It will take some getting used to, and as it fades a bit and becomes less vibrant I will probably like it better. Anyway the foam color was really easy to use, and I do like the color selection; I just wish I’d gone for a slightly lighter color!!
I think it looks great, but I also know how you feel. I’ve definitely had the DIY dye job ‘why did I pick that shade!’ feeling before. The fashion bloggers over 30 project sounds awesome, can’t wait to see what you guys do with it!

If you don’t mind having another over 50 with you, I’d love to join. I really like the dark hair on you. Your coloring allows you to wear several different shades well. It photographs really well! But then again, I love your pic in the upper right corner of the blog with the “Guava” lipcolor and the more auburn haircolor.
I MUST try on some of those Madewell widelegger jeans. They look so great on you and your legs look a mile long with your R.C. shoes. (just ordered a pair from Revolve: unfortunately, they were MEN’s boots!! Return!!)
I love the widelegger jeans – they should be marked down quite a bit by now 😉
I do like the darker hair, but now I feel like the guava is too light for me!! I need something more red… And I can’t help but feel a little washed out with darker hair, I’m not sure what to do with my makeup to look remedy that!
Darker hair definitely calls for more makeup. At least a brighter or more intense lip and cheeks. And possibly a change in the eye colors you use. Remember, tho, it’ll fade!
How about bronzer? Do you use that now? I use it all year ’round and I love the glow it adds to my skin. (just use it where the sun naturally hits…or, as I tell clients, “Do a backward ‘3’ on your face–Across forehead/hairline, on cheekbones (and add a pop of brighter blush),and then down under your jawline.”)
