First, I want everyone to know how much your comments/support/etc. meant to me on last week’s “weight” post. I feel so much better now; I think the weight of the world fell down on me right before I wrote that post, and I was probably still suffering from too much frozen yogurt with cheesecake bites in it (!!) from the night before. Honestly, Melissa’s comment with the link to Justine Musk’s blog post on changing your life really had an impact on me; I even signed up for Pure Barre classes twice a week for the next two weeks…(read the post).
I just need to start making THE RIGHT decisions when it comes to my body and stop getting angry at myself when I don’t (I’d win first prize in a contest to see who could get mad and stay mad at themselves the longest. no joke). I also need to stop eating frozen yogurt before bed. Anyway, I’m glad I wrote that post, and I’m glad so many of you responded. Too many bloggers just talk about weight loss and body image on the surface, or preach about how to get it right, but they never share their personal experiences and struggles. I just wanted to keep it real 😉
And yes, you read correctly above, I am wearing a jacket from Forever21, and it’s a size 2x. Which doesn’t bother me at all. I’m a little frustrated that I finally gave in to the allure of fast fashion and bought something from Forever21, but this jacket is SO CLOSE to an Isabel Marant jacket I’ve had on my lust list forever, so I had to do it. I mean…for $22…I had to. And it seems to be very well made, so I think it will serve me well.
I hope everyone has a wonderful week ahead!!
Grechen, I came across your blog while living in ATL and have albeit silently, followed it since. Though I may not struggle with this particular issue, we all have our challenges. That being said, I’ve only thought of you as a “cool girl” with great taste and great leads/info to share and whenever the email notifying me of an update from your blog pops into my inbox, I always click through (thanks to you I’ve snagged way too many Repetto flats and Inhabit sweaters on sale!). Keep your chin up and take one day at a time! Whether you realize it or not, you’ve come incredibly far so you should feel immensely proud of your accomplishment so far. You rock!
I must say you look great in that attire and you seem to be enjoying your skin. Having weight issues myself, I have to hide myself under piles of self loathing costumes, without being aware of being mean to myself as much as other people. And I just realized that for other people to feel good about and to be influenced by you, you need to walk the talk. You are an inspiration.
thank you very much and i would love to see more of your closet. 🙂

Like I said before, you’ve inspired me to treat myself better and not be so hard on myself when I make a mistake with food. It’s not like I committed a crime, for heaven’s sake! And I love that you aren’t “label-size-store brand” conscious about the jacket. It looks great, and no one will ever know if you don’t tell them!
