Have you seen OTTE NY’s new handbags? I love the direction the brand is moving in, producing high-quality, stylish, basic pieces at reasonable price points, considering first, their customer and her needs – and wants, let’s be honest!  Their in-house line of mostly silk is made in NYC and some designs use surplus fabrics, and all the bags are made in Milan at the same factory Chloe uses, the hardware is plated at the same factory as Tom Ford.

Most of all, I appreciate the minimal hardware (only what’s necessary), the vegetable-tanned leather, and attention to details like size, pockets, and adjustable shoulder straps.  The satchel is quite a nice-looking bag, appropriate for work, weekend and travel with multiple pockets, a zipper closure, and crossbody carrying option.

And an interesting detail on the satchel bags handles, according to OTTE: they are rolled handles, which are fully enclosed, something you only see in the highest quality of handbags at the designer level (often at the contemporary or mass level rolled handles are left open at the ends).  This is something my bag designer friend noted as well – it’s not a detail that a lot of designers focus on, and I appreciate the thoughtfulness that goes into those sorts of finishes.
