my brain right now…
We are on a whirlwind tour de Florida right now (we flew into Tampa to see friends with a new baby saturday, drove to Palm Beach to see my stepson yesterday and then on to Orlando to spend some time with my father today, and we’re leaving out of Tampa tomorrow afternoon…phew), so no major post today except to tell you about the 20% off ONE luxury beauty makeup item at Amazon with code LUXMAKEUP20. (includes Jane Iredale, Sara Happ, Stila, Blinc mascara, Perricone, and more). Sadly, it does not include luxury hair products like Oribe and R+Co. I thought it did though, and wrote about my favorite hair products again, and then deleted it. Wrote a whole post at Grechen’s Codes about it. Ugh.
Brain fog is a symptom of pre-menopause, no? Major brain fog moment right there. I’ve been having those periodically lately…it’s a very strange sensation….and the spontaneous crying for no reason? whoa.
Also, Everlane launched wool/cashmere sweaters today and I really love them. I think I’ll order the black v-neck sweater in a size medium; a good cropped black v-neck is something that’s alluded me for a long time, so if this is a good one, I will be ecstatic. Although it looks not quite as slouchy as I’d like.
I do also really like this oversized cardigan with the long side slits, but I’m happy with the cardigans I have right now.
Oh, and Bandier extended their 25% off friends and family today. I bought these HPE black 7/8 length leggings (which are basically full length on me) on Friday in store after trying on a million things. I haven’t worn them yet, but I love how they feel, and how they smooth everything out, and I needed a shorter length pant for platform classes. I also loved these pants by The Upside, but didn’t get them. I usually size down to a small in The Upside FYI.
Happy Monday!! How was your weekend? Any exciting plans for the week ahead?
Totally unrelated comment, but this is the only place/community I can think of to ask this question. I ordered the ES Elodie Workbelt from the S/S 2016 collection, and it arrived this weekend. I LOVE it and it’s really flattering, but I’m having a hard time figuring out how to wear it without thinking I look like I just got off a serving shift at a restaurant (but maybe it’s just me). Anyone here own this belt or have ideas for styling it?
Thanks!
holy cow. loving the new cropped v-necks. i haven’t felt this way about everlane in a while! think i might try that oatmeal color.
no worries about the amazon deal – i got super excited about deals on oribe – i already have a couple of their products and go to a salon that uses them. i’ve been wanting to try the beach wave spray … but it’s likely a blessing in disguise that they weren’t included. it’s not going anywhere and if i really felt the need i would be willing to pay full price!
oh, i wished i had that belt during my pop-up shop so i could have worn one of my simple JP dresses that doesn’t have pockets…it was SO HOT.
i guess i would try it off to the side? that looks less like an apron maybe? i don’t know, i haven’t seen it in person, so i don’t know how it works, but i think i’d try it that way, or just wear it however you want and forget about how it looks, i’m sure it’s really cute 😉
i see it it as a pretty utilitarian piece, honestly, and in that case, i’d probably only wear it when i needed to add a pocket, like for walking the dog, or working a booth with slowre…i’d have a hard time just styling it otherwise.
i LOVE that apres beach spray, and already ordered a second travel size (I know that’s wasteful, but i need to have smaller sizes for traveling so that’s usually all i order). i use it when my hair is wet with some styling cream or oil and twist my hair around my fingers while it’s drying. i try to go outside and walk dagny when i use it to air dry LOL so it blows around in the wind…
one of the owners of the salon i go to uses it pretty exclusively in wet or dry hair and her hair always looks amazing.
Thanks! I work with kids during the day and do a lot of art with them, so I was kinda thinking of using it in that way… the whole reason I bought the thing was because aprons like that tend to be flattering on me, but thinking of it as utilitarian instead of fashion will be helpful. I love it over a silk dress though!
Thank you again!
Hmm, just put the Everlane cashmere cardigan in my cart but I’m hesitant to pull the trigger. I’ve sent back my last three or so Everlane orders.
Hi Gretchen. Thanks for the Soho leggings tip. I’m always looking for good ones that hold everything in. Any sizing tips?
i would take your “normal” size in these – i usually wear a medium, except in the upside, but only their 70/30 fabric.
i am wearing these right now; wore them for my platform class and LOVE THEM so much, like i don’t know why it took me so long to try this brand…
