Well, apparently you guys like it when I show off my ass-ets…!! I may have mentioned this before, but I think it’s interesting that now that I’ve lost weight, and am the smallest I’ve been in many many years, I seem to be more reluctant to show off my still-pronounced curves.
I think this “change” is largely a result of styles in general shifting from body conscious to oversized and androgynous; I love to play around with silhouettes. But maybe I’m also just a little more critical of my perceived problem areas, thus preferring to just cover them up and get on with it. Hello? Saddlebags?
The truth is, I do like to shift from “body-con” like the skirt I wore yesterday and my many ruched James Perse dresses/skirts to oversized depending on my mood. And I also think I look “good” in both styles. This Oak dress, for example, creates a long, narrow line, which I like. The platform wedges don’t hurt either…

Do you tend to stick with highlighting your best assets all the time? Or do you cover-up sometimes?
Happy Wednesday!
So elegant! And I love the way that necklace works with the rest of the outfit.
This dress is awesome!! My wardrobe seems to be filling up with black and gray, and I would love to find a similar dress..
I’m with Cathy! Does OAK ever reissue “classics” or favorites like this dress that sold out everywhere? I didn’t jump on it early enough. :-(.
I love it on you with the wedges!
I love oversized, I think for the reasons you stated: It’s fun to play around with silhouettes, plus, I dont always want to wear something fitted. My best neckline is a v-neck, but I often wear crew or boatneck, and even have a turtleneck I love. Same thing with jeans. Technically, a bootcut or trouser style looks best on me, but I love to wear skinnies and boyfriends. It’s all fun!
i don’t know val…maybe contact them directly? i tried to find something similar, but couldn’t. i’ll keep looking though! i couldn’t wait to wear this dress again this year, i’m so happy with it.
I’m gravitating more and more towards oversized styles after many years of thinking I couldn’t wear oversized clothing because I’m curvy. Discovering your blog has been a great source of inspiration to me 🙂 I love the dress you’re wearing, it’s casual and stylish at the same time.
it’s hard to wear oversized when you’re curvy, especially if you’re a pear shape, like me, since you don’t get a chance to show off your waist, which is usually your smallest part…i think there are ways to do it strategically, so that you’re not completely hidden, but baring your arms, or showing your ankles, though. as i’ve done here. also, heels help, i have noticed reluctantly 😉
I’ll try that. Thx, Grechen!
