Than never to have loved at all. Right? No, I’m not talking about REAL love, silly, I’m talking about clothes, shoes, bags!! I have parted ways with so many things over the years, and I don’t even remember most of the things I’ve sold, but I can say with certainty there is ONE BAG I got rid of that I wish I had back and think about all the time: my 1st generation Botkier trigger in “steel.” It was a nice greenish/gray color, HUGE, with tons of storage and fit nicely on my shoulder. I bought it in 2005 or 2006 from Barney’s Co-Op and sold it a year or so later…
Anyway, Monica Botkier doesn’t make the Trigger style anymore, which is a shame, really, because it was her best style. I’ve had another of her bags since then, and found it lacking in the quality and “sturdiness” I found in the trigger. She does re-issue similar styles every once in a while, like this new “legacy satchel.” It’s basically the trigger with an extra zipper in the front (on the top) and flares out a bit on the sides – I LOVE IT. The smoke petrol color on her website is also GORGEOUS.
I got rid of the trigger originally because it was heavy (that was way before Alexander Wang!) and I hadn’t used it in a while. I’m glad it went to a good home, but I still think about it all the time, wishing I hadn’t gotten rid of it! I also wish I still had all of my Alexander Wang bags (the Donna, original Coco, Darcy and Diego) and kick myself for selling them so soon.
My problem is that I don’t like to have things sitting around that I don’t use. Forgetting that I MIGHT want to use them sometime in the future. Even years in the future. But then again, I also like to have the money from selling things that have been sitting unused in my closet to purchase new things to sit unused in my closet š Ugh. This might be the year I start re-purchasing some of those things I wish I’d never sold.
What have you sold over the years that you desperately wish you hadn’t? Tell me I’m not alone!!!
That petrol color is GORGEOUS. And $595 seems like a reasonable price since I’ve been looking at $1000+ bags…not sure that is a good change in perspective though!
isn’t it beautiful? my original trigger was $695, which was the most i had ever spent on a bag…
i did buy a couple of $1000+ bags, then sold them, and don’t really regret it, i’m not sure i could ever spend more than $1000 again, at the rate i buy and sell bags, i’d never get my money’s worth š
This wine-colored version isn’t bad either š

Hi G – I am the “good home” that bought your steel trigger from you. It is a great bag, but I have so many bags that I have only carried it a couple of times. Let me know if you would like it ….I would be thrilled to send it back to you.

I was just thinking about this over the weekend. I had a Balenciaga “city” bag from probably 2006 or so in a deep espresso color. It was gorgeous leather. I thought the bags were “over” and sold it a few years later. Still wish I had that one. Though I do like the new smaller version called the “town.”
oh. love the size/shape of the town bag! maybe it’s better you sold your city, so now you can have the “town”!
Heh, funny you should say that… š
oh!!! did you get one???
need to see!!!
I know that I’ve sold things or just given away some things, thinking that I’d never use them again, only to regret it later. Luckily, I’m in the midst of menopause and I haven’t the foggiest idea what those things were! š
Could the Botkier be used as a daily tote? I am in the market for a black tote for work and have tons of options in my Shopbop “hearts”. I hadn’t really looked at Botkier as I thought it was was “over” (as Deja Pseu said), but that Trigger-style bag does still look good…
sure! i think it would be great as a daily bag.
