Well, not really, he’s married to Isabel Marant (such a stylish family!!), but Jerome Dreyfuss does name all his bags men’s names, and tells you in a section on his website: “Take Care of your French Lover.” (I’m not going to take the French Lover analogy any further here, it could get out of control frankly ;)) Let’s just say that if you love your bags as much as I do, the comparison makes sense. sort of.
Take a look at some of the colors and styles for this season – isn’t that bright blue lovely?
From left to right, top to bottom:
1. Cognac Billy Bag at Otte – $798
2. Green Lucien Bag at La Garconne – $729
3. Red Charles Bag at Tender Birmingham – $850
4. White Perforated Max Bag at La Garconne – $1120
5. Blue Max bag at Tender Birmingham – $1095
Anyway….while the Billy bag is certainly the most notable of Jerome Dreyfuss’ designs, others are just as fetching, and all of them feature the same AMAZING buttery-soft leather you’d like to fondle all the time. (see, I told you that French Lover analogy could get out of hand) I’ve had two Jerome Dreyfuss bags, a large billy in silver metallic leather and a Robert bag in Cognac. I got rid of both of them because while I used the Billy bag quite often when I first got it, it was just too large for me, and very awkward to carry on my shoulder – even with the shoulder strap. And the Robert, while the leather was TDF, was very slouchy, and I ended up not using it very much.
If I could, I would get another Billy bag, but in the medium size – definitely NOT the large!! They do go on sale frequently, so you wouldn’t necessarily have to pay the hefty retail price tag, although I do believe the quality and craftsmanship live up to the price.
Do you have a Jerome Dreyfuss handbag? what do you think?
