Given how much of a James Perse fanatic I am, it’s pretty amazing I’ve made it this far without ever buying a Yosemite piece. I guess I made up for that with my second sale order! I really needed some new workout leggings & tops, so I decided to take the plunge, since the leggings were on sale, and I’m glad I did.

Overall, I’m very pleased with my whole order. Of course. While I do love the leggings, but I’m not sure I’m ready to forsake all others (SoLow & Lululemon) for Yosemite. For the price, I think I like Lululemon more, and here’s why: the JP pants don’t fit as well at the waist, creating a slight muffin-top and they’re not as compressive or “smoothing” on me as I’d like generally. BUT, I do love that the inseam on these for me, is PERFECT, they feel great, AND they’re made in the US. The color is great too, it mostly looks black, but in the sun, they’re a really beautiful dark navy-almost black.

I’m not sure I can put into words how much I love the tank. I don’t have anything like it, and I’m so happy I got it, even though it was full-price. And nice color, huh? It’s long enough so it stays put during Pure Barre and doesn’t show ANY sweat AT ALL, which is a huge pet peeve of mine; very moisture-wicking. And so comfortable to move around in. I’d wear this as a “regular” tank top also, but for now, I’ll save it mostly for Pure Barre/dog walking.

I wore the outfit above today to class, and was really pleased with how great it felt. I did have to pull the pants up a bit sometimes because of the muffin-top thing, but otherwise, the rise is really nice, and I didn’t think too much about them, which is always good when you’re exercising.

The sweatshirt/hoodie is great too, I ordered it in a size 3 so it would be longer, and I like the oversized fit. I LOVE the sleeves because they STAY put when I push them up, and they’re not too long for my short arms. And the front pocket is just what I needed for taking Dagny out – for all her “supplies” (treats!!) and my phone.

So, overall, I give my first Yosemite order a thumbs up, but besides the tank top, I’m not convinced enough yet that it’s better than other brands I love, except that it’s mostly made in the US. But SoLow is also…

And speaking of the sale, just for fun, here are a few things I’d add to my wardrobe from the James Perse sale if I had any of my shopping budget left, which very sadly, I do not:

James Perse paper bag drape pant | $119 (I tried these on over the summer and they were pretty nearly perfect – if there was such a thing! – long on me, but the size 2 fit my wider hips/legs/everything beautifully, such a great pair of lightweight wide-leg pants. I’ll probably kick myself next spring that I didn’t buy these.)
James Perse lightweight utility jacket | $229 (every. single. sale I tell myself I’m going to buy one of these, and I never do. I know I’d wear it, and it would be the perfect thing for traveling, but I can’t quite do it…I always find other things I want more…)
