Now…I’d like to know YOUR number. How many James Perse pieces do you have in your closet? What are you on the lookout for? What’s something you want to add? What’s your oldest piece? Your favorite piece??
Direct links to the pieces you can still buy:

Wow, 57 is a lot! I couldn’t participate in the giveaway because I’m a non-U.S. resident, but I would have guessed in the 30s! Congrats to Linda K.
I have only 8 James Perse items so I have a lot of catching up to do. I don’t have any skirts or dresses so those would be fabulous additions.
Good for you for figuring out that JP is your style and to embrace it. So glad your closet clean out was helpful. And yeah, you should stop by the JP store in San Francisco–you’re on vacation!
Actually, I have 9 JP items–I forgot the T-shirt I got second-hand in Vancouver last fall. I don’t have a picture of it on my hard drive so I didn’t count it. Must add that to my list so I don’t forget to wear it!
Just opened your email newsletter to find out I won. LOL. Am excited to win and so very jealous of your wardrobe.
Congrats, Linda! I’m the other 57! Maybe I should finally go and buy that lottery ticket : )
Gretchen, I need to find me a JP store and go browse, the esthetic is very much up my street. You certainly look lovely with your pieces. Hope you are enjoying your break in San Francisco : )
Wow this is a great list! Great wardrobe you have there!!! I guessed 59 because that’s how many pieces I have and we are so similar in taste.
I didn’t realize until I saw your list that I have enough JP to categorize but I do. (mind you I don’t have all that much else) This is completely helpful!
One glaring omission turned out to be that I have no black JP pants. How’s that possible:)I’m planning on the Clean Chinos I think. Looking at your list Gretchen and then mine I realize that even if I have to pay full price for them I will get my money’s worth out of them. Any idea when Spring goes on sale?
Have you ever considered opening your own James Perse store? 😉
That’s an impressive roster, to say the least!
Oh, too busy being a smart-*ss to remember to comment with my number.
I think I have 2 skirts: 1 long black straight maxi
1 short grey a-line skirt
1 navy s/s casual tee, my oldest piece ( maybe 7 yrs old?!?)
1 turquoise basic v-neck
1 s/s cowl neck heather grey sweatshirt
1 pair of black cargo pants
And I think I have a l/s white tee, but I’m too lazy to check tonight! Could be more…(read previous sentence)
Oops just realized you asked questions….oldest piece is an olive double faced tunic/dress thing that I wear at home a lot. Favorite is very hard to choose. I obviously love the sweatshirt tops because I have 12 in different colors. The best thing about James Perse (besides the sumptuous fabric) is that all colors go together.
I do love these lightweight drawstring pants in dark olive that have those perfect pockets….the kind that work to shove my hands in and don’t make me look hippy at the same time. I wear those all the time. I’m definitely on the lookout for more jackets…I LOVE the jackets!!
I limit myself to James P and Vince pretty much. I cracked up in the previous post ….Vince/NY vs JP/Cali. I’m in LA but it works:)
Karen, you and Grechen are hard-core JP fanatics! I do own a pair of black JP pants—the only JP bottoms I have—and they are poplins with a draw-string elastic waistband. They are fabulous. I bought them full-price at the JP store in Montreal last spring. I’m sure I’ll own them forever. Good point about all the JP colours going together. They are also my favourite colours (I’m not a fan of pastels or really bright colours.)
Forgot to mention that my oldest JP item is a pull-on, 3/4 sleeve hoodie that I bought two years ago at a thrift store for $8! I had admired JP before then but didn’t want to spend the money. So it was a no-brainer to start off with that. My favourite JP item is a grey knit button-up shirt with ribbed side panels that is so flattering.
Man, I was so close! I guessed 56. 🙂
I found a James Perse tshirt at a thrift store once. Looked like it had never been worn! It’s become on of my favorite tees.
whoa. JP twins 🙂
i’m going to go to the store this week and try on new pants; i’ll report back with my thoughts, but i really really love my canvas pants, and i do love the crepe surplus pants, but they stretch out so much, i don’t wear them as often as i’d like.
they’ve been doing sales online more often, but honestly, i’d check an outlet near you, or if you don’t have one, call the one in San Marcos, TX and they’ll send you pdfs whenever they get new items in and you can buy via phone from them. nothing ever goes on sale at the JP store – they just send it out to their outlets, or to ecommerce where it’ll be marked down. they did a sale in june last year, but i don’t think they’ll wait that long this time, they’ve been doing more frequent sales lately. of course i’ll let you guys know the moment i do…
thanks luna!!! did you get that lottery ticket??
i went to the JP store in san francisco while i was there; it was quite a bit smaller than mine, but still good – i tried on the long trench and LOVED it. would have been perfect for SF, but not for the rest of my life! it’s long, but i think it worked on me, actually…another thing to put on my list for sale time 🙂
We’ve got this HUGE outlet center in Riverhead, but there’s not a James Perse outlet. Talk about a missed opportunity. It’s always busy there! My favorite stops are VINCE, Barney’s, and Saks off 5th. I can find some good JP at the Daks outlet sometimes. I wonder if they won’t put one there because of its proximity to the JP retail store in East Hampton?
