HOPE – SWEDEN
Low Trouser | €130
Boxy tee | €70
Resort Bag | €220
I first became obsessed with HOPE when they launched their basic tote bag a few years ago (pictured above) and it started selling out everywhere else online that sold it (Totokaelo, La Garconne…). I never did end up ordering one, although I had it in my cart for a long time, and they do have great sales. Hope is sold on lot of US-based sites, but I still like to browse their own site because the styling is so perfect. HOPE is truly one of the quintessential minimal-chic brands, and I would be happy to fill my wardrobe with nothing but…
ZENGGI – AMSTERDAM
Striped top by Armour Lux | €39
Sofie D’Hoore dress | €410
Zenggi cotton dress | €149
Zenggi cotton sweater | €129
LA BOTTE GARDIANE loafers | €135
I’ve also been following Zenggi for a long time, and feel like a complete doofus that I didn’t realize they were based in Amsterdam or I would have visited a store. Although we walked the city and I never saw a storefront…They carry brands like Hope, Sofie d’Hoore and James Perse along with their own brand – if you’re based in Europe, they might be a good option for ordering JP. They also have a great outlet section with crazy cheap prices. Again, I just love their styling – everything is exactly as I would style it, with less color 😉 and their private-label brand is spot-on.
TOAST – UK
Jersey swing dress | £85
Cropped slim leg trousers | £85
Espadrilles | £125
Toast is new-to-me, thanks to a comment from Mamavalveeta, and now I’m completely head over heels. I don’t love everything on the site, but the things I do love, I LOVE. That swing dress? Heaven. The espadrilles, insane! (although they’re mostly sold out). And I love those cropped slim-leg trousers – they’re something I think I’d like to have for summer; an alternative to jeans. Has anyone here in the US ordered from them before? How was the experience?
I also love Sweaty Betty (UK) for workout clothes; I’ve ordered from them twice. And I did order from Topshop Uk before they had their US-based site, but other than that, I don’t like to place international orders very often. Unless it’s going to be TOTALLY worth it. Which Sweaty Betty is…although you can’t track orders when they’re shipped internationally, which makes me nervous.
What are your favorite international shopping sites? If you’re based in the US, do you order from international sites very often?
I ordered about 5 things once from Toast about 4 years ago and was not happy with the quality. I had kept 2 things, a sweater and a jeans. The sweater pilled terrible immediately and the jeans got an abrassion immediately also. I am sure some is good but, for me, not worth the shipping to find out. Hope is another story, great quality! And I never knew about Zenggi till now. Their own line looks very nice.
thanks for the feedback!! zenggi is wonderful, i wish i’d had a chance to visit while in amsterdam!!
I love Nitty Gritty- the aesthetic, the lookbooks, the selection, the owner’s blog. They carry some brands sold in the US but some that are harder to find. Super fast (and free I believe) international shipping.
You turned me onto sweaty betty and I have received two orders from them. I really like the clothing a lot. I have two pairs of these crops: http://www.sweatybetty.com/salamba-yoga-capri-prodsb161_stormygrey/ and one of the ‘vests.’ The styling is great for the crops and super comfy. I use them for lounging. The vest (tank top) is great too. I really wanted a change from Lululemon, whose workout clothes I love. I have not been able to find much in terms of good lounging clothes from Lululemon and lately their colors and prints have been awful. My only complaint about the sweaty betty crops is that you can’t dry them in the dryer. Other than that they are cute, comfy, and a little different.
I have not placed any other international orders…makes me nervous.
hi robin! i got those salamba yoga capris also, and didn’t like them so much on me – i do love that they’re loose, but i guess i wanted them to be just a bit compressive around my hips/upper thighs to hold them in a bit more. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my printed harem pants and i wish they’d make them in all of the colors, and my harem skirt – i’ll definitely be placing more orders. to me, there’s just nothing better than great fitting, interesting, and cute exercise clothes 🙂
I was totally about to pull the trigger on those pants…but I don’t wear many patterns. They look awesome. I just got the SB catalouge with 20% and free shipping. I may have to get them.
I agree, about the waist of the crops. I like Lulu’s deep elastic waist for wearing outside the house. But, I am also on a new “love your jiggle” mission. So, I am going with what is comfy.
you KNOW i don’t wear patterns!! and i love those harem pants! I’m thinking about getting the patterned leggings also 😉
and it’s funny, because of your comment yesterday i pulled out the salamba capris and wore them to pure barre today and LOVED them. they were so comfortable, and looked great i think – i got quite a lot of compliments!!
i got the SB catalog today too, was just browsing the site now to see what else i need. maybe another pair of the salamba capris in grey. how do you find the grey? i got the black; i guess i worry about the grey being not very forgiving.
