New Glasses!!

spexclub.com glasses

So, my friend Christina from Sale Bite hooked me with up the folks at Spexclub.com who sent me a pair of glasses (free) to check out and let you guys know what I thought. First, what do YOU think? I know you’ve never seen me in glasses before, so it’s probably a bit of a shock, but this is what I look like after 8-9 PM every night. I’ve worn glasses/contacts FOREVER; literally since I was 8 or 9 years old, and I prefer contacts, but lately, I’ve been wanting to wear glasses more often. But that requires CUTE glasses.

Anyway, I had to pick these out “blind” so I tried to think about styles I’d had before that I liked, and based these on the same shape/style. I do wish they had a virtual try-on feature like Warby Parker, but I’m pretty happy with the way this pair turned out. These are the “Zoe” acetate frames, and although they might be a little wide for my face, but I do like the color (gray-ish black) of the frames and the overall shape. The frames are hand-made, hand-polished acetate so they have some texture to them also. And get this, they’re only $78 INCLUSIVE – meaning that price includes prescription lenses with the frames. I don’t know about you, but the last time I bought glasses, it cost me $500….

I’m also dying to try out some Warby Parker frames, but they seem to be out of the ones I like all of the time, so I’m really glad I had the opportunity to try out Spexclub.com. The experience was great, and I love my new glasses :)

And I do apologize for the quality of the picture. I used my iPhone camera, which is generally a great camera, but the lighting in here is bad, and it was a gloomy, gloomy day yesterday. I don’t have someone around who can take my picture on a whim, nor do I have a DSLR camera that takes amazing pictures. I’ve been struggling with whether or not to invest in a DSLR camera this year – I drool over others and long to be able to take better pictures, but I’d still have the problem of not having someone to take my picture. I mean, I’d still have to take my outfit pictures in front of my kitchen pantry door with the camera on 10s timer – would having a DSLR make that any better? I’d love to get out and do pictures in different environments also, but then I probably wouldn’t be able to do them as frequently…

What do you guys think? Are you getting tired of my outfit self-portraits??

Have you tried a cable release? I know then you’d have that in your photo, but you’d also have the advantage of being able to take several photos without resetting the timer over and over. Cute specs!

I LOVE them on you!!! I’m going to have to check out Spexclub.com. I just got a pair from WarbyParker and the customer service was excellent. I did the 5 day try-on and they were very lenient (it snowed like crazy and I couldn’t get out of the house.) I got the “Digby” in tortoise, but would love some other ones in sandalwood matte. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
