Wearing/Buying
I’m very happy with the Mara Hoffman jacket and the Rachel Comey jumpsuit. They both fit me well and I think the jacket will be a great almost-coat over a cashmere sweater for winter. Sadly, Shopbop sent me the wrong size No6 Clogs, and I’m VERY frustrated about it because they’re sold out now, so I can’t re-order my size with the discount. Ugh. The problem is that No6 Clogs are labeled 38, 39, etc., and I wear a size 39 in No6 clogs, and have FOR YEARS. I contacted Shopbop about it and asked what No6 size (like, WHAT IT SAYS ON THE SHOE!) I would be getting if I ordered a size 8 and wanted to make sure it would be a size 39. The person I emailed with said yes. But I received the 38, so they’re on their way back.
Oh well.
Two other interesting things of note: The Rachel Comey jumpsuit is INDEED 100% cotton, although Shopbop says it is 99% cotton. UGH. And the Mara Hoffman jacket simply says “100% cotton” on the tag, which is confusing to me. According to Mara Hoffman’s site, the jacket is supposed to be organic cotton. Now this could mean that they just don’t add the “organic” to the tag for some reason, OR they’re producing non-organic cotton versions for sale to wholesale customers? That doesn’t sound right, but it’s been known to happen (brands producing “different” specs for different wholesale accounts), so I’m going to email Mara Hoffman for more clarification.
Entireworld sent me two things this week to try out: this sweater, which is organic cotton, and the sweatpants. I’ve worn the sweatpants everyday at home for the last five days and love them. They’re 100% cotton, so they stretch out, not holding shape that well, but they are cozy, and highly functional. I will write more about each piece later, with pictures. I know their website is mildly annoying (turn your volume down!!!), but I really do love their clothes so far, that they use a lot of organic and recycled cotton, and the fit is much better on me than Everlane’s ever was.
Finally, I ordered the Ace & Jig pants on a complete whim last last week and they arrived Tuesday. I think they’re awesome and I’m glad I returned the Eileen Fisher silk pants and got these instead. Honestly they just fit my style a little better, although I did love the trouser style of those pants.
Did anyone else order anything from the Shopbop sale??
Reading/Watching
I’m reading three books right now, and watching a few different things too. Nothing is really holding my attention for too long at a time though. I should write a post just about the books I’ve read/am reading. Or posts…I could fill a week.
Doing
On my way to Atlanta, then Bowling Green, KY with my mom for my aunt’s 80th birthday celebration. Be back on Tuesday!
Yellow and navy are one of my favourite colour combinations – the yellow trousers and thick ribbed navy jumper look SO great together and really suit you!
Just wanted to say that all of this looks fabulous! I love the colorful outfits on you!
The bright Mara Hoffman cord coat is just so damned cute! A bit disturbing that it’s not labeled “organic.” Companies REALLY do that – different specs – but non-organic instead of what it’s supposed to be? GEEZ!
LOVE the pops of color for fall!! I love black and I wear a lot of black, but I do wear colorful scarves. I’ve been trying to keep my more expensive purchases in neutral colors for better “value” – cost per wear being a personal favorite metric. But I just put a pair of RED combat boots in my wishlist. I mean, they’re a slightly darker red, but still. RED. COMBAT. BOOTS. CouldI do it? Still don’t know that. And my feet are so picky; they’re Taos (and I still adore the taos sandals you found for me years ago!) but I have to worry about my fat calves AND semi-wide foot box? Haven’t pulled the trigger. Need to look at my fall/winter clothing still and see if I can wear the boots enough. If they’re tall enough, I’d be ok with them with dresses (I have not been able to adjust to wearing ankle boots with skirts or dresses; it still looks too weird to me). Enjoy your family time!! My mom and her sister are on a road trip in Maine this week.
