Wearing/Shopping
I snapped some photos outside this week because it’s been so nice. I wore the outfit above yesterday, and also last week. I try very hard not to buy things that come through slowre on consignment, but sometimes I just can’t help it. This top is awesome, and fits the black-shirt-hole in my wardrobe nicely.
Reading/Watching
Honestly I’ve been so busy lately I’m not reading or watching much, aside from my “usual” shows: Walking Dead, Last Week tonight with John Oliver, Big Little Lies (a million times better than the book), Girls (which is better now that it’s ending LOL). I hope to get a chance to binge watch Grace & Frankie this weekend; LOVE that show.
I am (slowly) reading Death at La Fenice, one of the books I found via materfamilias. I can’t wait to spend more time reading it, I just haven’t been able to lately.
Doing
Feeling dizzy right now. It’s so strange because my sister has had vertigo issues for quite some time now, much more serious I think than what I’m feeling now, but she’s also here now, so…is vertigo contagious? LOL just kidding. I was in Pure Barre doing the cardio platform class and felt my head spinning. And now it is still spinning just a teeny bit. I think it’s allergies/too much coffee/not enough food honestly. But I feel weird.
Not doing much this weekend, my sister is still here for half the day tomorrow so we’re going to go to a park and walk in the morning, then hopefully I can chill at home the rest of the weekend. I have so many new arrivals to get up to slowre next week, and I think a 1-year anniversary celebration is in order. I just haven’t figured out what that’ll be haha…
What are you doing this weekend? I hope it’s as beautiful where you are as it is here!
I’ve been watching Big Little Lies and I really like it. The third episode sort of gave a lot away, I thought, but I want to read the book once the show is over. I sometimes feel a little dizzy with sinus pressure, and the kids’ version of Sudafed works for me. Hope you are feeling better soon. Have a great weekend!
so glad you kept the white hope button up too – looks great on you 🙂
i have some unsolicited feedback about the slowre site – when clicking “view all”, i would love to see all items from most recent to oldest (or just have that as a sort option somewhere else?). since you already have sort by designer as an option, i just think the alphabetical thing requires a lot of digging if, for example, you haven’t looked on the site in a hot minute but don’t want to see everything. does that make sense? others may or may not agree…
have a great weekend! things are just started to bud up here in new york, and my early blooms are flowering – very exciting!
love that white hope button up!! thanks 🙂
as for the “everything” view on slowre, there should be a sort option at the top, next to “filter” where you can sort everything by newest to oldest. do you not see that?
i do now! it’s funny because i have thought about it every time i’m on the site and i never noticed that – thanks for pointing it out!
okay, good 🙂
i was worried there was something wrong with the page!!
I love that top on you, but ugh – bra issues for me 😉
I saw the first Big Little Lies on free HBO weekend but am now trying to figure out how to watch the rest. I can’t stream at home, so….I think I’ll wait for a slow week at work then do the 7 day free HBO trial through Amazon Prime and watch all the episodes during lunch? In the past, I’d just wait and buy dvds of shows I wanted (cheaper than paying for the premium channels if we’re not watching much) but now – everything is streaming. Which really, REALLY sucks for those of us in rural areas without affordable high speed internet…
This weekend – gardening, probably….If my new pillow forms arrive in the mail, I will sew up covers and have some new spring/summer throw pillows for my couch….[I hate sewing and am not good at it, but my husband is, and typically I can handle a few straight lines for a pillow ;-)]
Love John Oliver! Although he gets so worked up, I fear for his health sometimes, lol. Congratulations on the upcoming 1-year anniversary of Slowre! I’ll be sure to check out the new listings!
I already binged Grace and Frankie’s new season….. and it is AMAZING!! I hope you love it as much as I do.
I’ve had a lot of work lately, so I’m just sitting by the big floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room and enjoying the sunshine while I work. I would be in the chair by the window, but my asshole cat has taken it over. She has no concept of sharing!
I love those jeans, but I find myself having a hard time getting over the word wedgie. . . that just doesn’t sound comfortable to me!
I hear ya’ Cathy! ( My A-hole cat has taken to sleeping ON my head!) 😉
The back of that top is gorgeous! Pretty bra = No prob (for me, anyway!)
Trying to read…still working on The Goldfinch, which I love, and paging through Andrea Linett’s The Cool Factor (Style for miles!!!)
Sick with some kind of upper-respiratory virus and laying low on a very, very rainy, yucky, horrible, windy day!
Hi Grechen-
Love this top on you with the levi’s. Im on a search for vintage ones here in NY. If you have any places or ideas please pass them along, any dear readers as well.
It was so cold, windy and rainy here today I would switch with you gladly!
I have farmer’s hours and dont watch TV much at night. I’m a reader and am almost done with The Little Paris Book Shop by Nina George, beautifully written. I have The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom too. Both given to me with great reviews. I’ll be finishing unpacking , gym and relaxing, catching up on errands and grading.
PS Feel betterGrechen I get vertigo sometimes too xoxo and MamaV too it’s going around.
Hi Grechen, just wanted to say Hi! I wish I had more time to comment on all your posts, but just wanted to say I so enjoy your blog. I love reading your thoughts, your assessment on the items you wear and I just adore your personal style. You have inspired me to really think about what I buy and I am now on a quite an exciting journey towards a wardrobe of predominantly ethically made clothing. Thank you! xx Deborah
I have had issues with vertigo in the past and had tons of medical tests/consults etc and nothing was ever determined. I’m convinced it has to do w changing seasons and allergies affecting the inner ear, and usually taking some allergy medicine helps! It’s the worst though, I remember the first time I had it, I thought the world was ending!
What a fun top! I love the contrast between the front and the back. I haven’t watched this season of Grace and Frankie yet but I’m looking forward to it. Big Little Lies is one of my favorite books, but I have to say I’m not loving the show, despite my appreciation of many of the actors. I just feel like the tone is a bit off, but not sure if I’m the only one.
About the vertigo, my friend gets it every time she has a bad head cold. I think your allergies are definitely playing a role here. I had vertigo several years ago that was very severe., and I think it was caused by stress, too much coffee and dehydration. I ended up doing a maneuver on my head that you have to pay a therapist to do and it worked great! You can go to a head maneuvering specialist(!) or try looking it up online for the do-it-yourself version. Hopefully, you can just get lots of fluids and it will just go away on its own. Good luck.
Love the shirt btw.
