Wearing/Shopping
This might be it for the LSJ, it’ll be in the mid-80’s today, so I won’t be able to wear it all day, but it’s still great for 70 degree mornings.
I got my 6397 Shorty jeans from Shopbop’s “big event” and sent them back after wearing them a little around the house. They are 100% cotton and the same size as my black pair, but they didn’t seem to give/stretch out as much with wear. They never got very comfortable, and although I was wary of the herringbone at first, I grew to like it a lot. Oh well.
I’m thinking of trying these “white” Levi’s in a size 30; I’ve never tried white jeans, but am interested this year, and I like the fit of my Wedgie jeans, but they could stand to be a little bigger. I also love this lighter pair by Goldsign, and Goldsign has generally always fit me well…
Do you wear light/white jeans?
Elizabeth Suzann’s warm weather collection launches on the 26th!!! I know a lot of you are just as obsessed with it as I am. I can’t wait to get a better look at what’s coming. I should also be getting my shirts from Tradlands today or early next week, so look for some reviews of those soon too!
Today’s the last day to enter to win a size 8 Everlane Day mule in black or a $50 Everlane gift card >
Also, this weekend, free shipping at slowre ends (I added a few new items today)! Use code PRELOVED *valid on US orders only, once per customer
Reading/Watching
Three Ways the Denim Industry is Changing for the Better: “recycling/upcycling, comfort, greener production” is the gist of it. And the article mentions Levi’s, Frame, G-Star and AYR among others.
Maiyet’s biodegradable sunglasses – Love these so much…
Nisolo’s Impact Report – I love this, and wish every company would do something similar. Many companies do, if you look on the CSR pages (corporate & social responsibility), but most do not. Even Everlane doesn’t go this far and give this much information. I wish I liked Nisolo’s shoes more…I do like them, but not enough to add a pair to my wardrobe I guess.
I watched 13 Reasons Why on Netflix over the weekend and wow. I sort of wanted it to be over already, once I got halfway through, because…high school…but it was worth watching. If you have high-school age kids, it’s even MORE worth watching. I have a high-school age step-son and nephew, and I can’t even imagine high school being like that for them. I hope it’s not, anyway. It was shocking, and if that kind of stuff is happening in high-school now, I’m speechless. I don’t know what to say about it, really, besides that it deals with rape, lots of verbal abuse, suicide, etc., among high-school kids, so be aware. Leaves you with lots to think about anyway…
Doing
I don’t have any serious plans for the weekend yet, although there’s a big Earth Day event in Fair Park I might go to. I was actually considering doing a pop-up there and was invited to do so, but I passed because I didn’t feel like I had enough inventory for it.
Are you doing anything for Earth Day? Or just for the weekend??
*when you use my Garmentory referral link and sign up for an account, you’ll get a $20 credit and so will I
I actually own those “white” distressed Levi’s – they are really great and quite rigid, which I love. I would size up from your normal size though, particularly because I think it’s a better look with light jeans (I’m always trying to avoid the painted-on look!)
oh nice! thanks for the feedback. will definitely get them now!
I’ve been on a white/ecru jeans kick lately too! Although instead of jeans, I’m considering waiting for the ES WWC to see if I’d like the Clydes in Flax Linen, or maybe get them in the Natural cotton canvas. I also really like the AMO jeans you have on Slowre, but have been in the mood to wear pants that aren’t jeans… they just seem more comfortable to me, for some reason, and there are finally pants available these days that aren’t jeans, but aren’t slacks either.
After so much contemplation… I’m thinking I might skip the LSJ trend this year (sigh). I’m completely smitten with the jumpsuit launching with ES and some other items, and I have a denim jacket to hold me over this spring. I might get the ES Ida Trench in linen later this summer, but for now, I’m going to have to pass (I really only have SO much money I can throw at ES, so I have to choose wisely!)
I like a lot of Nisolo’s shoes, but for the second year in a row they are out of the sandals in the color/size I want! I guess that is an issue with all small manufacturers, but they seem particularly slow in re-stocking (I’m not sure if the sandals ever were re-stocked. Maybe in the middle of winter when I wasn’t checking, hah!).
I used to have a white pair of Frame jeans, but they weren’t fitting well after a while and I passed them on. I like the way white jeans look on others, but really tricky for me to find flattering ones. The reality is that I just feel better in darker bottoms. And easier to keep clean 😉
I have 7? (I think) shirts from Tradlands now, which was a real investment for me. But I have to tell you, I LOVE them. As a woman with a big chest but small waist (I’m a 34DD) that extra eighth button has been a game changer. I don’t have to worry about flashing small children at work! It’s not even a thing for me anymore! The shirts are so beautifully made and fit me so well, and no button up has before. I’m interested to see what you think!
White jeans scare me! All white clothing scares me but I now have three white top, all ES. Hmmm…
I’ve tried on two pairs of Nisolo shoes and I think both were too narrow. I’d love to try on a pair of their oxfords but I haven’t gotten over there yet.
Am hoping to take my son to the Earth Day celebration in the park but rain is in the forecast. My husband just left for a 15 day business trip. We need activities to get us through the weekend!
I agree about Nisolo shoes. I like the company but their shoes are uninspiring. I actually wrote to the company about this and they were very gracious about it.
YES. that’s exactly how i would describe them. uninspiring. they look like great basic shoes, and seem to fit well/hold up well. but…
i like a bit of interest, or a little something different in my shoes/bags/whatever.
Im going for the Harper tunic and maybe the Georgie dress from ES –
I have 2 pairs of white jeans from Citizen- one slim boyfriend w stretch and the Corey which is a slouchy straight style with no stretch- Jeans without stretch are so much cooler, temperature wise too.
Going to an Earth Day celebration in Manhattan and a Gatsby theme party tonight .
Have a great weekend!
That’s what bugs me, too, Alice: No size 11’s, which have become quite common with women being more sports-minded, (sports = big feet? Idk. I just made that up. ) 😉
I love my white jeans! I wear them in the winter with cashmere, and in the summer with EVERYTHING!!! I especially like them with a black top because it feels slightly more dressy for summer social occasions
I actually bought theses Levi’s in white tumble this month https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VNQNH1E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 and they’ve been really fun. They are more of a cream than a white which is better for me, and the distressing makes me worry less about a smudge here or there on them. I thought they ran a size big just FYI, maybe even a size and a half since the cotton stretches a bit with wear.
The title of this post put me in a momentary panic – no more LSJ? But that’s due to your climate, not LSJ’s having run their course. I wore an alpaca/wool sweater on Friday (It was in the low 40’s and raining.) so my days with the LSJ are clearly going to be extended.
I binged 13 Reasons Why the other week, and it brought back high school memories. I was lucky that I went to school before the rise of digital media and handheld devices, and that I only did ninth grade in public school – I remember things being just as brutal, but not as viral. It’s been a great conversation starter with my 15 year old daughter, and we’ve even reached the point where my 15 year old stepson is starting to think he should watch it, based on hearing us talk about the show. I’m thankful that, though both have experienced this kind of behavior, they are both strong enough to not take the bait, and to distance themselves from those situations instead of getting sucked in and hurt by them.
I love my white jeans and wear then year round – although most heavily in spring and fall. Mine seem to show dirt quickly so I have a collection of three so they can stay in constant rotation. I try and buy inexpensive options so that if they stain, I can replace them without regret. I have not been able to find 100% cotton white denim and the blends are harder to clean.
