I haven’t done a round up yet of what’s on my fall shopping list (it’s very short!), but black loafers are on it. Which leads me to Everlane. Yes, loafers are landing at Everlane this October. I’m hoping they’ll have a black pair…
And in case you haven’t taken a look lately, they’ve added some new tee, silk & shirt colors:
Interestingly enough, I don’t have a u-neck shirt yet, but I’ve been wanting to try one; it looks like a little better fit than the v-neck, and emulates my favorite James Perse & Splendid tees. I’m crazy tempted by the red clay color, but it’s definitely not something I need right now.
I am very interested in some of the “coming soon” items, including the cashmere, loafers, and wool. I don’t quite “get” what the wool items are going to be yet, but they look like sleeveless sweaters? maybe a tunic?? (yes, please!) Interesting.
I do love my Everlane cashmere pieces; they’re great for the price point (I received one cashmere cardigan as a gift, but paid for my other two pieces), and a nice alternative to Inhabit or James Perse. They’re very basic, so I’d never be able to survive on Everlane alone for cashmere, but for good, high-quality classic sweaters, Everlane is a good bet.* I do want to change the buttons out on my cardigans though…
And the Petra crossbody (coming soon) looks heavenly. Finally might be tempted by a weekender bag also, although I’m not sure when I would use it. It looks a little big to fit under the seat on the plane, so I’m not sure it would work as a carry on tote in addition to my roller bag. But I love the reverse denim color – or lack thereof!!
What do you think? Are you getting any of the new Everlane colors? Looking forward to anything for fall??
*Please take a look at these posts for all of my Everlane articles & reviews!
I was swooning over these colors when I got the email from Everlane this morning. I have the U-neck tee in black and it’s pretty drapey on me. That’s not a bad thing, but I definitely wouldn’t describe it as fitted. I ordered a large based on the size chart (I’m generally an 8/M in tops), but I think if I sized down it might have been too short.
The wool items look yummy, but unfortunately my super-sensitive skin keeps me from wearing wool or cashmere. I’d LOVE a great cotton sweater from them, though. I continue to be tempted by the Petra, but haven’t been able to justify it…yet.
oh, that’s exactly what i want – a bit of drape. the v-neck tees don’t have any drape at all…do you think i should try a medium? or a large in the u neck tee? i don’t want oversized necessarily, or too long…
have you tried their seed stitch sweaters? they do have a little cashmere in them though, so you might have a reaction to that…
i would die if i couldn’t wear cashmere !!!!
I really prefer the Everlane U-neck tees.
Another tee I was pleasantly surprised by was this one at J. Crew–I tried it on in-store, and it’s very similar to that Splendid tee you have–nice and drapy, and more of a tee than a tank. But the new style fits very differently than the one that’s currently on clearance at J. Crew: (Any “muscle” type tanks look terrible on me; if they have a softer sleeve opening it is dramatically different).

That’s a lot of pressure…but based on the sizes of the pieces you already own (and the fact that you feel they run big for you), I’d probably stick with a medium. I’m also fairly tall at 5’7″, so that was part of why the large was better for me.
I haven’t tried the seed stitch yet, but I should. Sometimes I do okay with blends, it just really depends. And yes, not being able to wear cashmere makes sweater shopping VERY difficult!
With my minimalist desires and struggles, I am kind of relieved that their new Fall colors aren’t a big temptation for me. My husband has had more luck with Everlane than I have, but the mystery wool item does make me a little excited.
I signed up for the early access for their Petra clutch in December. Maybe it will be a winner for me? I sent back my Petra Market Bag because the proportions were quite weird against my frame. It’s funny, because their models and celebrity endorsers are all pretty tiny. I think I am not as slender as I needed to be to pull off a bag so huge. I always wasn’t smitten with the polished chrome accents, which is why I held off on the smaller Magazine Petra. I also tried the backpack. It was so odd (big?) on me that my husband laughed out loud. Still waiting to find my Everlane sweet spot. I might go for belt…
i love the petra styles, but they’re just so structured…i prefer a little slouch, you know?
i got the backpack too, and it was weird. i didn’t like the white canvas straps either. minor detail, but still. i wish it had worked for me, it would have been great for traveling since it has the padded laptop pocket in it. and it held a TON.
i have a belt, i guess it’s the high-low belt? i like it a lot, but i don’t wear belts. ever. i mean…i understand that i should probably have one, and i like to think about wearing one every once in a while, but in practice, it never happens. anyway, the belt si good, i like the minimal styling. although the medium was too big on me i think…
that is a nice looking top – muscle tees look horrible on me too, i need a sleeve or thinner straps on a tank top…
Oh, Husband, Husband… 😉
Grechen, I have “The Weekender” duffle in reverse denim, and while I ADORE the way it looks, it’s a royal pain in the arse to lug through an airport! Maybe it would work if you were taking it on a short road trip and didn’t have to carry it, but I found the lack of a long strap intolerable, not to mention WAY too heavy. If it’s going to work, I’m going to have to purchase a roller cart for it, which defeats the purpose.
I live in Everlane’s V-neck tees, so I caved and ordered the Root and Red Clay colors today. I wear a medium and they are somewhat fitted, but not too tight. My first Everlane purchase was the U-Neck tee in a large, and I find it a bit too slouchy for me. You might like it, though. I also have the short sleeve sweetshirt and the two denim shirts. I’m sad that they didn’t make the dopp kit in pink clay. I also wish they made the short sleeve poplin in more colors, because I would stock up. I will probably try their sweaters this winter, too.
yes. those are all reasons why i’ve not bought the weekender, even though i love the look…i need a longer strap, and an outside pocket or two. oh, and i have to be able to carry it…
i love the dopp kit!! i’d love to have one of those at some point.
try the sweaters – i like the cardigans, i have a cashmere crew neck and it’s good, but i’d like it to be a little more slouchy. i also have a seed stitch u neck which i like. i haven’t tried the short sleeve poplin – how does that fit? i found the sleeveless to run REALLY big…
I only have the short sleeve denim shirt, and it’s sort of a weird cut. It’s supposed to be swingy, but I am fuller in my waist and hips, so it isn’t as loose on me in the medium. I like it, though, and wear it often with a skirt. With jeans or pants, it would look weird on me.
