Fall 2013 | Outfit & Shopping Report

I’ve been shopping quite a bit this week, not buying…just shopping. But I am adding LOTS of things to my list for Fall:

1 Vince ankle zip skinny jeans | $245 at Nordstrom (I really wanted to try these on by they didn’t have my size in the store. I love Vince denim, I’ve tried on a couple pairs and was happy with the fit. Only problem with these is that they have an ankle zipper, and of course, they’ll be too long on me. But this is exactly what I’m looking for in a pair of jeans for fall: interesting details, grey wash, ankle zip)

2 Splendid helsinki wedge sneaker | $145 at Nordstrom (I really wanted to love these on me, but I didn’t. They were SOO cute on my friend who also tried them on, but she has smaller calves/ankles than I do. Overall, they were comfortable and a good price for a trendy leather shoe…size down 1/2 size)

3 Current Elliot coated biker jacket | $388 at Nordstrom (I tried this on and fell INSTANTLY in love. I think I took the size 1 and it fit very well, especially in the sleeves. What a great jacket for fall! This Eileen Fisher version is a contender as well)

4 Vince leather sleeved cardigan | $445 at Nordstrom (so good, it’s not even funny)

I played around in the sunglasses section for a bit, and tried on a pair of Gucci sunglasses that were soooo good. I haven’t ever been able to spend money on sunglasses, so this is just a dream, but I really liked the pair I tried on. And I can’t stop thinking about this Free People dress spotted in the store yesterday; I didn’t try it on, and I’ll have to wait for it to go on sale, but it’s so pretty, and unlike anything I already have. I think it would be a fun addition to my wardrobe!

I also tried on the new much-hyped J Brand photo ready jeans in Onyx and they were TERRIBLE. I know J Brand isn’t ideal for my body type (they always tend to sag in the crotch and are tight in the thighs), but I thought maybe since my body has changed they might work for me. And I wanted to see if the jeans were as AMAZING, OMG BEST JEANS EVER as publications are saying they are. They’re not. They showed EVERY single bump and lump in my legs and honestly, I wanted to get them off ASAP. The LOFT jeans I tried on (below) were infinitely better than the J Brands and 1/4 the price…

I liked these, but not enough to buy them, although I probably would have if I was at a stable weight right now, and knew I could wear them in 2 months. These are a size 29 and they fit well, no gap in the waist, and I liked the rise. They were still a bit long on me (I don’t like them to bunch around the ankle), so I rolled them under, but after washing, they’d probably be fine. And since you don’t get enough of those, I included a butt shot here so you could see the rear view 😉
