My brain is still trying to recover from the weekend/conference/wine/ice cream so this post is slightly random, and I apologize. First, Everlane kindly sent me the trench to review for you BEFORE it launches on 4/30. I will have outfit pictures up this afternoon/tomorrow morning (obviously, it needs a good steam!) so if you’re on the wait list to preview before it’s available to the general public in the morning you can make an educated decision.
At first glance (it arrived this morning), I really love it. I asked for a medium, even though I thought originally that I should try a small, and I’m glad I did. It’s a swing style, so it IS supposed to be just a bit oversized, and a-line, but if I’d gone down to a small, it wouldn’t have fit very well in the upper arms. It fits wonderfully there now, and there’s room for long sleeves, or even a sweater in cooler weather. AND THE SLEEVES ARE LINED, so it will be perfect for layering; I wasn’t expecting that honestly. I’m short, and it just covers my rear, so for a lot of you it may hit higher up or even just below your waist, depending on if you’re short or long-waisted (I’m short-waisted. I think…).
The trench is 100% cotton, but it is a medium weight and definitely won’t become soggy in rainy weather; maybe it’s treated with something? Or maybe it really is waterproof. It is dry clean only and made in China. Overall, I highly recommend Everlane’s new trench if you’re looking for one. It won’t be very practical for me right now, other than in the rain, but I can’t wait to wear it next fall/winter as a light jacket (or for our milder winters, a regular jacket!).
More pictures tomorrow!
Also, I’m going to try and use Instagram much more often, because it’s quickly becoming my social media network of choice; it’s quick, easy and moves fast, and I love pretty pictures 😉 If you follow me there, or other bloggers, you may have seen a few mentions of Like to Know It here and there. Basically Like to know it allows you get outfit/instagram details in my photos straight to your email & also to SHOP them from your inbox, if you’re so inclined.
All you need to do is sign up first via Liketoknow.it. You will simply have to login with your instagram credentials one time (to authorize it). Whenever you see an instagram post tagged with #LIKEtkit, double tap the image to like it and you will receive an email with outfit details.
You can select how often and when you receive emails, and if you never like an instagram with the #LIKEtkit tag, you’ll never receive an email. Easy peasy. And just as an example, here’s what an email looks like (here’s one of mine featuring Odyssey Home):
It’s just another way for you to get and consolidate details of anything I post (including nail polish) via email as long as it’s tagged with #LIKEtkit on Instagram. And if you don’t follow me already, please do! I look forward to following all of you as well.
Happy Monday!!
Well, it’s about time that Everlane sent you a preview piece! 😉
A trench is one of those things I always sort of need but never end up actually getting, so maybe this is the time.
Does it come in other colors?
so far it doesn’t come in other colors, but they’re always very good about listening to feedback and bringing in new colors for popular items, so i wouldn’t be surprised if it does eventually. i really like this one, it’s a great deep olive-green. a perfect neutral!
i’ve sort of always wanted a trench, but never found one i wanted to buy. i always want one for traveling; this one would have been PERFECT for san francisco….
Hi Grechen,
I’m a big fan of everlane and have MANY pieces from them as well, I LOVE everything. I was on the shop early list for the trench but for some reason only received the email to tell me it was already sold out. So disappointed…anyhow, maybe you can help me out here. I’ve been trying to figure out from the pictures what the cuffs on the sleeves are like. In the everlane photos it looks like they are cuffed. Do they unroll? Or have you unrolled them and then half rolled them up again? I am tall and skinny with very long arms so I’m trying to figure out if the arms would be long enough…
Thanks for the review! I was very happy to find it today as I had looked last week for one unsuccessfully!
Monica
hi monica! the sleeves are cuffed and i have them half-rolled up AGAIN (that’s all i could manage – they’re not easy to roll) because otherwise they’ll cover my hands…
the cuffs do not unroll – they’re stitched up, and not in a way that i think you can easily remove the stitches if that makes sense. i would measure the arm length if i had a reliable tape measure, but i don’t. sorry!! but everlane’s CS is very good, i’m sure they’d send you the sleeve length if you asked. i have short arms and everything is super-long on me, so i’m not sure if i’m a good gauge for how they’ll fit on you!! but i hope that helped 🙂
