Eileen FIsher ungendered organic cotton wide leg pants | size medium
Petit Bateau tee | secondhand, and very old!
“Vintage” wool cardigan | secondhand
Dansko clogs
I cannot tell you how long I’ve been looking for “the perfect” drawstring wide leg jeans/pants. I’ve always had a hard time finding such pants because of my waist/hip ratio. Well, for good or bad, my waist/hip ratio has narrowed a bit (thanks Hawk!!) so that’s not as big of a problem as it used to be.
I don’t know why I never thought to try men’s pants, but now that I’ve tried a unisex style, I see that I probably should have earlier.
I got these in a medium because I wanted to be SURE they fit, and they definitely do. They stretch/give a bit with wear during the day, and I might have been able to get away with the small, but I don’t want them to be fitted or pull or touch my body ANYWHERE, so I’m happy with the way the medium works for me. This denim style is actually not 100% organic cotton (it has 2% stretch), but all the other colors are, and I’m tempted to get the twine color, which I will get in small. I do sort of wish these were 100% cotton too, but I’m okay that they’re not.
I got a couple of other pieces from Eileen’s capsule unisex collection with Nordstrom and I’m equally happy with those (I’ll reveal them throughout the week). The pieces – pants specifically – are exactly what I’ve been looking for in my postpartum wardrobe. I would have worn them before too, as I said before, they have a CdG vibe without the price tag, and they’re probably more sustainable/ethical.
Oh, and these are the clogs that don’t quite fit me anymore, although it seems they fit better in the mornings than they do in the afternoon. I still can’t wear socks with them like I used to be able to though, so I ordered a size up from Poshmark (my first Poshmark order!) a couple days ago – fingers crossed they work!
Sigh. I feel so good lately. More like myself. Clothes that fit, and express my style help more than I can say. You probably understand.
Hawk also took multiple one-hour-plus naps yesterday, and he’s asleep this morning again after a quick nursing session at 5:30, so I’m getting more “alone” time than I know what to do with. No, that’s not true, I know exactly what to do with it, after the dishes are put away, bottles made and the house tidied up a bit. I get to write!! I would like to write more about motherhood, and in-depth questions/issues about fashion and sustainability, but for now, as I’m easing back in, I’ll keep it light, and talk about my outfits ๐
And how could I leave you without a Hawk picture? As you can see he’s chilling in his box in the photo above – he really loves sitting in there with a blanket, a book and a toy or two:
Oh that face! What a cutie.
Glad to see/read you feeling more like yourself – your new self ๐
I just ordered some clothing from the Eileen Fisher re/new site – I’m excited! I got a pair of the tencel wide leg pants, a linen tank dress and some stretch dark denim. Fingers crossed! I almost ordered another pair of the crepe pants but I’m still wearing the black pair I have (and gray, and bark, and navy….) and I’m trying to avoid duplicates in my closet…
Welcome back! Yes I can totally relate to the waist/butt ratio issue pre-baby . Congratulations! Pants will now fit everywhere ;)! And no, men’s pants would not have fit you pre-baby. It would have been worse. I tried.
I would also like to send many thanks for featuring this pop-up. It’s quite intriguing. Even a unisex circle skirt….too cool for school.
By the way, I promised a review of my ES wool pieces….I love them….they are the best ES items I have bought in years. I was quite worried because she has been tweaking her sizes and fits, but everything was perfect. I got the cropped vest and the dress in Small, and the wide leg pants in Medium — I just HATE anything rough or even slightly tight in the waist. But I should note that if I had followed the recommendations on the website, I would probably have ordered Medium in everything.
Baby in a box! So cute. My first-born liked to sit in a laundry basket. My second…well she just can’t be contained.
I thought the Eileen Fisher ungendered collection was really cool. I’d like to try it out, but my body has been fluctuating a lot this year, so I’m really hesitant to buy any clothes – especially pricier ones – until it settles down. If it settles down, ha! Right now though, I’m getting backpacking gear, because my husband and I are starting to do a lot more outdoors stuff. And what do I look at first? The clothes. lol He was all into the backpacks and how much the gear weighs, etc etc when he started, and I’m more interested in my pants and shoes. ๐ Right now though I need a good jacket! We’ll be doing most of our trips here in Texas, so I need something lighter, like a rain jacket, but I don’t want anything that’s too plasticy, if that makes sense?
OMG! Hawk in a box! And those sweet rosy cheeks – I got to spend last weekend with my 3 grandkids and it was SO much fun watching the youngest, Murray, bond with his โPopPopโ as he called my husband, plus, my granddaughter wanted me to do her makeup! (What to do with a 6-yr oldโs precious face? Blush and lipgloss!)
I checked out your link to the EF unisex stuff and itโs really interesting. Iโd go for the oversized sweaters and jackets, but the pants are cool, too.
I’m so happy you are feeling like more yourself lately! My heart swelled for you when I saw the baby playing! Enjoy every moment. Time is fleeting.
Did not know about the EF unisex collection!
This sweater looks VERY David Rose and I want it!

YES! so david rose LOL
someone tagged dan levy in EF’s instagram post about the collection and that sweater in particular. i wonder if it was david rose inspired…
thank you!!
So funny – that was my thought, exactly! ๐
oh! i would love to know where you guys are going – i hope to do more outdoorsy things soon, but i don’t know where to go…
my mom has a super lightweight windbreaker/light rain jacket from patagonia that she loves a lot (takes it on all her overseas trips) – i can’t find it now on their site though
i love the circle skirt – i was very tempted by it, but i don’t like circle skirts on me LOL
so glad you love your ES pieces. i have heard stories about “off” sizing lately – i’m thinking about at least getting a pair of linen florence pants for spring/summer, but i think that’s it. i do like the kara long sleeve linen shirt too. otherwise, not much at ES is catching my eye lately. i like the alabama chanin collaboration pieces, but couldn’t buy one off-season so…
It’s so great to have you back! Thank you for the great updates and the news of how well Hawk is doing. He’ is just beyond adorable, and I’m SO glad that you’re feeling a bit better and more like yourself. I’m loving the outfits you’re sharing, too, and can’t wait to check out that Eileen Fisher unisex line! You look so chic and happy, it’s wonderful to see. oxoxo
I like those EF pants!
And Hawk is such a doll. I am glad to hear you’re emerging from early days fog, bringing your baby with you:).
