(LOL – again with the resting bitch face I mentioned I maintained most of my latest photoshoot. Oh well. I still like the pictures, just need to remember to smile, or something, next time! )
Since it actually got cold here in TX all of a sudden, I’ve worn this Emerson Fry sweater a couple of times, most recently on Saturday to see Spectre with my husband and step-son (it was good!). It was about 40 or so degrees outside and I wore this over a long sleeve shirt, with my Scarf Shop wool scarf and was cozy for being outside the minimal amount of time I was. I was also perfectly comfortable in the theater, which is always challenging for me…
The sweater is big. But it’s meant to be. Originally I had a medium but exchanged it for the small and am much happier with it; it’s shorter, and slightly less oversized. I love the slightly open neckline on this – I think it keeps it from looking too “closed” and gives a little glimpse of skin to balance out the coverage. So far, I haven’t worn the sweater enough to notice if it will pill terribly, but so far so good. It’s my go-to when I don’t want to wear a cardigan – it’s super-easy to throw on and go.
Just as a comparison, I did order Everlane’s capsule wool v-neck tunic, and it is a similar chunky wool, but a much slimmer silhouette, and a true tunic on me – almost a dress. It’s different enough from this EF sweater, but I think I actually prefer the looser, oversized silhouette to Everlane’s slimmer one, and I like the shorter length. I haven’t decided if I will keep the Everlane sweater or not – I’ll have pictures up for you tomorrow, but if I had to choose between the two, I’d go for Emerson Fry hand’s down; it’s ethical & sustainable, made in the US from Imperial Yarn, raised in Oregon.
A few more sales/deals of note today, this Cyber Monday:
James Perse is offering an additional 10% off + free shipping with code GRECHENCM15 today only!! I placed my order today, the slub t-shirt in pinot, the yosemite striped jogger pants and the fleece pullover.
Rodale’s is offering 25% off all orders over $49, so I used this opportunity to order three more pairs of my favorite Only Hearts organic cotton bikini panties. I HIGHLY recommend anything Only Hearts – they are having a sale on select organic cotton items on their own site.
Melissa Joy Manning has a 20% off coupon code today: CYBER2015. I usually buy myself some earrings when she has a code – just as a small gift to myself – but I’m happy with what I have right now. I just recently switched back to my circle studs (they’re sold out, probably because Maura Tierney was wearing them last week on The Affair…but here are the triangle studs) from my hug earrings and highly recommend both of them. They’re personal, no one else will really see them, but that’s what I love most about them.
Finally, it’s the last day for the coupon code at Shopbop – I noticed that they took a few new markdowns, it’s worth a look again if you haven’t for a few days. I have a love/hate relationship with these tiered codes; the good thing is that they’re valid on designers that regular codes are NOT valid on (like Alexander Wang, ACNE, etc…), but I hate that you have to spend a certain amount to get the most value out of it. Obviously, the closer you stick to $250, $500 or $1,000 the better…
PLEASE check Grechen’s Codes for even more sales & coupons today (Steven Alan, Bandier activewear, Revolve Clothing…) and let me know if I miss anything! Also, what have bought? What will you buy?
