Are these clogs?

I’ve been trying to identify lately, what makes a clog? wood bottoms? chunky heels? platforms? nailheads? I’m not sure, I think you just know a clog when you see one ;)

Along with my obsession over clogs, I have a deep deep love for Robert Clergerie shoes, but haven’t been able to afford to buy a pair for the last several years. Maybe it’s time to start saving up for these:

I. am. drooling.

Anyway, back to the original question. Are these clogs? What do you think makes a clog?

I’d say that a clog is chunky, has a wooden sole, and is mostly closed over the foot. I think the shoes above qualify as platform sandals…

I agree with Elissa; I always think of a clog as having a closed front. But these are kind of like the “Prius” of clogs. I’m remembering all of the great Swedish pairs I had back in college and wondering why I don’t feel as comfy in them now? (age? fear of falling? lol)

hmm clogs in my mind really just has to do with the shape of the last and the construction of the outsole…hence, if it’s got a chunky heel + wood + some sort of platform action it’s a clog to me. now that you’ve got us started on the spring no.6 clog fever i’m counting the days till i get my brand new replacement no.6 shearling boots! kind of glad the groundhog saw his shadow so i’ll still have plenty of time to wear them :P
