I love all things Rachel Comey, not just her clogs, but they do hold a special place in my heart. Because Rachel Comey’s Clogs are SO GOOD, and I love clogs. Sadly, though, I don’t own any of the three pairs of Rachel Comey clogs I bought anymore. I had two pairs of the Beaufort “bow” clogs, one in black and one in taupe, and also a pair of clog sandals. Sold them all. The Beaufort clogs I loved (they were so comfortable, and incredibly lightweight), but I never really liked how they looked with my larger calves. Now that they’re smaller (my calves), I wish I had the clogs back.
That’ll teach me for getting rid of stuff. No, just kidding. I didn’t love them ENOUGH on me to keep them around. But I do love the Idolan clog. In fact, I wanted those to be my summer shoe purchase but I just couldn’t swing it. And then I thought I’d wait for them to go on sale at Shopbop, but they haven’t. They are on sale everywhere else (on Rachel Comey & Totokaelo, and bird), but I don’t have the cash for that right. And anyway, I just used some credit at Shopbop to buy a new pair of Swedish Hasbeens.
But back to Rachel Comey. Her shit is expensive. And I can’t say necessarily that it’s worth the price, because I’ve never paid full price, but I can say that the clogs seem to be even lighter weight than No6 or Swedish Hasbeens; I was always astonished at how light they were. And light shoes means easier walking. They were always comfortable too. Except the sandals. The straps on the sandals tore my feet up. But that was an exception. And obviously, people swear by her Mars booties. I still don’t have a pair of those, but I don’t like the way my legs look in ankle booties, so there’s that.
What are your thoughts on clogs? Rachel Comey clogs? Have I converted all of you yet??
Oh, and in part of the teeny tiny little re-design I did here i tried to consolidate all the “clogs” posts into one category – Clogs.
This is really freaky. Just an hour ago I was on the Camper website and came across their collaboration with Rachel Comey for some comfy-looking sandals, and I instantly thought of you! I’m considering them for sure.
As for clogs, I’m afraid I’m not yet a convert. They just seem so clunky and heavy to me (though they look great on you). Maybe I should actually try on a pair before dissing them though! 🙂
so weird! i love the rachel comey x camper sandals, but not the price. i wish they were closer to camper prices than rachel comey prices!!
clogs are definitely clunky, but not heavy!! visually, heavy, yes, but not in weight. they’re lighter than pretty much any of my other shoes, except sandals. anyway, i get that they’re not everyone’s favorites – my husband hates them, and calls them my “activist” shoes, but they’ve just always spoken to me. i guess i really am a child of the 70’s. sort of. 😉
That’s funny because I thought the Camper x Rachel Comey sandals were cheaper than her usual shoes so I was excited! Good to know that not all clogs are physically heavy. I will try some on sometime. As for the sartorial opinions of better halves, I am quick to point out when I think my boyfriend could be making better choices and he does the same for me, but like you I still go with my instinct. As long as he’s not embarrassed to be seen with me. 🙂
they are cheaper than HER normal prices. i just wish they were A LOT cheaper. but the price isn’t unreasonable at all…
I laughed out loud at that one! My husband has certain clothing/shoe things he hates ( He calls my UGGs my “UGG-ly boots ????), but I just want what I want sometimes, and that’s ok.
I really have become a clog convert, and I credit you and Lucky magazine for that conversion, plus several of my favorite online clothing sites (Totokaelo, LaGarconne, Otte). They just look RIGHT with a more minimalist clothing sensibility.
My issue is the height of the platforms… I just can’t wear anything high. So I love them, but I need some more stability. I am in love with the Loeffler Randall Alix peep-toe boogie, which I really consider a clog: http://www.loefflerrandall.com/LRProduct.aspx?ProductID=917&CategoryID=32
And I’m also lusting for Emerson Fry’s python slides. If money just grew on trees!
love those LR booties, they’re in my “hearts” at shopbop – but the more i look at them, they’re too fancy for me…
i’m torn on the EF slides. they’re sort of cool, but also remind me of my grandmother’s slippers. which is awesome in one way and not in another LOL – and i know they would look horrible on me. so…
Lol! Maybe that’s why I like them, cuz it adored my grandma!
