You’d think I’d wear a leather jacket frequently in Texas, given that it’s not REALLY cold, but I don’t – this is only the 3rd or 4th time I’ve worn it, and today, I was cold (it’s about 55 degrees). I just do better with cashmere I do love it though, and have visions of wearing it much more often, I just don’t.

I was forced to change my bag out today (from the yellow Balenciaga) because I really wanted to wear this sweater. And you know me, I can’t wear too many colors/patterns in the same outfit – it would cause a rift in the space/time continuum. Anyway, I’d forgotten how amazing this J.W. Hulme bag is; I’m glad I pulled it out to use today.

Since they’re hard to see in the outfit picture, here’s a close-up look at my new No6 clogs from the sale at La Garconne:

I’m so glad I sized up this time, they really feel so much better than my size 38 open-toe clogs. But…I like the style of the open-toe clogs better. These are good, I like them (especially the dark base), but I’m still going to keep my eye out for a pair of open-toe clogs on sale for Summer.

Don’t you love my ability to play with color? LOL, I think I’m just stuck in the black/gray variation because I love the way the yellow bag looks with those colors. Not that I really have any other colors in my wardrobe…

I’m happy with just a pop of color…it’s enough for me. But I may have to break my unwritten no-necklaces-with-belts rule; I feel like this outfit needs a necklace. Although I would have put one on and taken it right off again because I would have thought it looked like too much going on. Some kind of fashion blogger I am, huh? I’m afraid to accessorize. There, I admit it.

I can’t be the only one out there…can I?

I’ve had a secret desire for a Balenciaga bag for years, but I was unwilling to pay full price or buy from ebay, so I had kind of given up on ever owning one. But this one showed up at MOSS designer consignment recently and I was instantly in love. It was still too much at full price, so I waited not-so-patiently for it to be marked down and hoped that it would still be there when it went on sale. I think it didn’t sell because of the denim staining and wear on the bag, but honestly, I don’t think the wear is that bad – I mean, it looks used, that’s all, not destroyed – and my friend Sari at MOSS was able to get a lot of the denim stain off, so I felt like it was a steal at the price. AND I had store credit for my consigned items, so it was kind of a no-brainer. I LOVE yellow with gray, and you know I wear a lot of gray – and black – and white – so I think it will fit in quite nicely to my wardrobe. And it adds just the right amount of color

I’m excited to have something in my wardrobe that really makes me smile. Not that I don’t have any pieces already that I have an emotional reaction to, but last year, I got rid of many items that I DID love, in favor of making my wardrobe more practical, and ultimately more monotone and easy to work with. This year, I don’t plan on adding much to my wardrobe, because I REALLY don’t need anything, but what I do decide to add will have to make me smile, and I will have to LOVE it.

We’ll see what I can find! (I can already tell you that when these Repetto BB flats get marked down they will be MINE)

Yesterday it was 75 degrees here in Austin – today, it stayed around 50. No wonder I’m sick. But it was the perfect opportunity to wear my new Inhabit cashmere cardigan (graciously sent to me by Inhabit NY). I got a size large, because I wanted it to be oversized, but I cannot say enough good things about this cardigan. It’s 100% cashmere, and thick – SO WARM – and it has enough interesting details so it doesn’t look like you’re literally wearing your grandpa’s cardigan (I did take out the shoulder pads though…didn’t want to look like Tim Tebow ). It’s on SUPER sale now, and with the extra $20 off code CASHMERE, it would be $219 – a mere fraction of the original retail. If you’re a cashmere-lover and always cold, you will love it, and wear it constantly for many years; I had the previous “version” of this cardigan for nearly 4 years, and I wore it every day during the Winter months.

Also, I’m really loving my INDi custom jeans lately – the wash is just right, and I’m getting used to the fit. The rise is higher than I normally wear, and they don’t gap at all in the waist; something I’d gotten used to with most jeans, but I appreciate the custom fit now. I still think they’re priced a bit high, but if you can get them for 30% off they’re worth it, especially since you won’t have to get them altered!

It’s not often you get an outfit view from the back but it’s way more exciting than the front! And unlike the Shopbop models, I’m wearing a tank top underneath. Thank goodness. But it’s a great top; it’s a wool-blend, so it’s warmer than a basic tee, but the slit in the back will provide some built in air-conditioning for when it gets up to 73 today. It is VERY long though, so I’ve got it kind of bunched up a bit so I could wear it with this skirt. With jeans, I wear it all the way down.

This is my first item of clothing that has any interest in the back – and I like it. Kind of like a mullet: office in the front, party in the back LOL. Do you have any pieces that drape or have interest in the back?

I decided to copy Sharon today, since she copied me yesterday with her Candace Ang necklace…and anyway, I’ve been kind of knocked for a loop the last several days with cold/allergies/sinus issues, so comfort was paramount today. As if it isn’t always

I was hoping to be able to do a big “resolutions” post and reflect on the previous year/talk about what’s to come, but my stuffed up nose isn’t allowing enough oxygen to my brain for those kinds of deep thoughts right now. But generally, Nanashi really inspired me to reflect on what I DIDN’T wear last year, which I intend to do, but I think my main goal this year, style-wise, is to buy and wear FUN things more often. Last year, I impulsively got rid of a lot of my “fun,” happy pieces (like the hot pink long skirt from Anthropologie), so I’d like to work on adding some similar pieces back into my wardrobe. Otherwise, I don’t need ANYTHING else. I have enough basics, jeans, long skirts, etc. to last the year. If I’m going to add anything to my closet, it must make me smile and feel intense happiness. As much as any item of clothing or accessory CAN make you happy….

I’m not going to lie, I sometimes regret selling my Alexander Wang Rocco bag. Mostly, I wish I had one of the newer ones with the shoulder strap; it’s so much easier to manage with the shoulder strap. And, I’ve discovered lately that I need a bag with both handles & a longer shoulder strap, otherwise, I just don’t use the bag as much.

Which is why 1. I am selling my J.W. Hulme Linwood bag, and 2. I really don’t regret selling my 1st gen. Rocco THAT much 3. I REALLY want the Alexander Wang Rocco with the clear rivets and 4. why I’m thinking of selling my Alexander Wang Donna bag. But only THINKING. I’m really attached to this bag even though I don’t use it very much anymore. She’s the one that started the Alexander Wang obsession…

I’m nothing if not consistent And easily recognizable in my signature black/white/gray. I wouldn’t want to confuse you all by wearing some color! But I’m beginning to think some bright shoes are in order, what do you think? I thought about wearing my hot pink patent Revas by Tory Burch, but it’s too cold for that. And this skirt is too long. And they would clash with my bag. Sigh. I guess the bag adds some color, but I want ORANGE; I love orange with gray & black…

A note on the skirt: I did NOT pay $99 for it. Madewell is crazy with their in store sales & price discrepancy’s online vs. off. In my store it’s on sale for $60, and during a 50% off sale items event a couple of weeks ago, I got it for $30. Which is about what it’s worth IMO. I love it, but not for full-price. So next time a Madewell near you has an event, GO. They usually offer some % discount off of sale items, not always 50%, but at least 20%.
