Nichole, the designer of Acanthus Jewelry wrote to me last week to introduce her new line of jewelry and I was immediately in love. Her pieces have just the aesthetic I love: just a little romantic, simple, and easy to wear. My favorites are the hoop styles:
Nichole makes every piece to order by hand from natural, semi-precious stones and 14k gold fill wire, chain and beads. She takes her inspiration from decorative motifs throughout art history, but interprets them for the modern, contemporary woman (love that
) Take a minute to check out her designs, they’re truly unique and beautiful. While you’re there, if you find something you love (or your mom, sister or BFF would love), use code GRECHEN for 20% off your order. BUT, you can also enter to win a pair of the Alexandria earrings (the hoops on the right – my favorites) by leaving your name/e-mail below* – Good luck!
* by filling out your name/e-mail you are entering to win one pair of Alexandria Earrings from Acanthus Jewelry AND you are signing up for the Grechen’s Closet RSS e-mail newsletter. If you are already signed up for the newsletter, you must leave your name/e-mail address again, but you will not receive duplicate newsletters. The giveaway is now OVER, and congratulations to commenter #31 as chosen by random.org….Mamavalveeta03!!!! (FYI, I count the comments from the backend, and skipped over mine)

First, this is MY OWN bag I’m giving away. I’ve only used it twice, so it’s not showing any signs of wear or use at all. It’s a fabulous bag, but no matter how much I always want a gray bag, I never end up using it…so I’d rather it go to a good home
Here it is on the Topshop website, but in black. And below are pictures of the actual bag I’m giving away:

And on me, so you can get a better idea of the size:

So, to enter to win, all I’m asking is that you leave a comment about how much you love Grechen’s Closet
no, not really. I’d love any constructive criticism, suggestions, comments on what you like here, what you don’t like, etc. Just leave some meaningful feedback if you please.
You can also re-tweet the contest via the button just below (hit “retweet”) and you’ll get an extra entry. But you MUST come back and leave a comment that you tweeted to be entered again. I’ll choose the winner randomly from the comments next Tuesday, June 8. Oh, and this is open to US-based participants only. I gotta ship it
Thanks for playing
**the giveaway is closed! congratulations to commenter Meagan (as chosen via random.org)**
In case you haven’t heard, Valentine’s day is coming up
and in case you haven’t noticed, I haven’t posted any gift ideas, or gift guides, or talked about it at all. It’s not that I don’t love Valentine’s Day, it’s more a reflection of my distaste for made-up “Hallmark” holidays and the expectations that come with them. But I love love, and I love you, dear reader! So as a simple gesture of my appreciation, London Calling Boutique has offered up this Alex & Chloe “love is bleeding” necklace + a $25 gc to the boutique to one lucky reader. And the contest will run through Monday, February 8 so the winner will have the necklace just in time for Valentine’s Day!

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment below telling me something you love, why you love/don’t love Valentine’s day, what you love most about yourself…basically anything having to do with love will do
For a bonus entry, post this on twitter: RT @greedygrechen: enter to win an alex & chloe love necklace at Grechen’s Closet, just share your love! http://ow.ly/14lJ0
Incidentally, I’d like to share with you something I’m taking part in this month, Gala Darling’s Radical Self-Love “program.” I’ve long been a fan of Gala’s writing, and the way she reaches out to everyone with such love and generosity of spirit and wisdom, so I’m really looking forward to learning more from her about how to achieve “Radical self love!”
We already had our first homework assignment already (but it’s not too late to start if you’re interested) and it was to first, find a notebook to write in all month and write your “mission statement” for the month in, and next, to identify or find a totem that reminds you of your commitment to yourself whenever you look at it.
I already had the notebook – my sister gave me this set of Moleskine color-a-month notebooks for my birthday last year, and I’ve been dying to use them!

And here’s what I wrote as my mission for the month:
I promise to LOVE: I will love & appreciate myself, in spite of my faults
and fill my heart with love for all those around me
And I’d love for this to be my totem, if I can manage to save up a bit:

I have a “thing” for stingrays and have had random stingray jewelry before, but it was always cheap and simple. I love this ring because it’s a statement piece, and reflects the love I have for the beauty of the stingray & manta ray; which will also remind me to RADICALLY love myself and those around me. In case you didn’t see this earlier this year, I featured this ring and some pictures of the Manta Rays at the Georgia Aquarium over at Green Grechen:

Anyway, I’m sharing this with you because I want you to know how much I appreciate and LOVE you every day – and I think it would be fun if you guys did this too. If you do decide to participate in “Radical Self Love” leave a comment, and you’ll get an extra entry in the giveaway. Maybe this necklace is the perfect totem for you?
Have a wonderful weekend!!
Apparently I’m late to the party, but I just discovered these WAM bands by Whitney Marbach, although they’ve been making the rounds of top fashion/style magazines since earlier this year. I always love a good chunky bracelet, but even more, I love the “gladiatorial” and “ancient” details on Whitney’s WAM Bands (makes me miss watching Rome on HBO). Named after Roman emperors (or are they all just characters from the movie Gladiator? LOL) Commodus, Lucious, Maximus, Proximo & more, these 2 & 3/4 inch bracelets would be just as home with a long flowy gown as with jeans & a tee. They are distinctly modern, but hint at something timeless, which makes these WAM bands the perfect accessory in my opinion.

And now, thanks to the new London Calling Boutique, you have a chance to win your very own WAM Band! Here’s how to enter:
The minimum you have to do to enter is leave a comment below after visiting London Calling Boutique and tell me your favorite color WAM Band. (I love the pink one, but I also really like the black and metallic ones worn together – take a look at the Press Page at Whitney Marbach for real-life photos)
For extra entries (I will be choosing winner from comments ONLY, so whatever you do for extra entries, be sure to leave ANOTHER comment):
- Leave another comment with a link to something you’d really really really like to RECEIVE this year for the holidays – and tell us why.
- Follow me on twitter and tweet this: RT @greedygrechen enter to win a WAM band by whitney marbach (featured in bazaar, lucky, marie claire) at grechen’s closet http://ow.ly/Kk66 (leave a comment after your tweet with a link so you’ll get your extra entry)
- Fan Grechen’s Closet on Facebook (don’t forget to leave another comment)
- Post about this contest on your blog or Facebook page (leave a comment with a link!!)
The winner will be able to choose a color from any color/combo London Calling Boutique has in stock.
Contest ends next Wednesday, December 16. Good luck!!!
Oh! and if you can’t wait to see if you won, or anything else on the site strikes your fancy, use code Grechen10 for an extra 10% off already marked down prices at London Calling Boutique. Have Fun!!
