You know I can’t resist a sweatshirt…and you probably also know how much I love Everlane. So you won’t be surprised that I was first in line to make a purchase when the new sweatshirts launched this morning:
I decided to go with the Short sleeve sweatshirt ($30) in gray and the box shirt in indigo ($55) – both in size medium. While I really WANTED a couple of the other long-sleeve sweatshirts, I need one like I need a hole in the head, so I got the indigo shirt instead. I’d been looking at it for a while, and since they offer free shipping on two items or more, I added that to my short-sleeve sweatshirt order.
Being the practical dresser that I am, I have never really “understood” short-sleeve sweatshirts or vests because as Laurel mentioned in a comment yesterday, if it’s cool enough to wear a sweatshirt or a jacket, it’s cool enough to wear sleeves! I wholeheartedly agree, and responded to that with my consternation at people who wear flip-flops during the winter. I don’t get flip-flops (other than for the beach) anyway, but leaving your toes exposed when it’s below 70 degrees? That’s living dangerously.
BUT. I do love to layer, and what better opportunity than to wear a button-down top under the short-sleeve sweatshirt like Everlane styled it? I love that idea, and I’ll also probably wear it over tank dresses as it gets warmer, but I couldn’t resist the challenge of a short-sleeve sweatshirt, so look for an outfit as soon as I get it!
Did you guys buy anything from the new collection? Do tell!!
I love heather gray sweatshirts/hoodies and I was so looking forward to see what Everlane will have to offer. I like all the styles (including men’s zip hoodie) but I have to admit I am a little disappointed that they are not 100% cotton. bummer!
I think I mentioned in yesterday’s post that I was interested in trying Everlane so when I saw the email this morning, I decided to check out the sweatshirts and made my first purchase. Short-sleeves are always an iffy thing with my body type (busty) so I’m not sure how it’s going to look on me but I couldn’t help buy really like the short-sleeve sweatshirt. I got the indigo color. Fingers crossed it fits!
I have WAY exceeded my shopping quota so will have to live vicariously through your review of the short-sleeved sweatshirt for now. For real, shopping ban starts today. Right after I check at Club Monaco to see if that super-cute silk dress is still on the 40% off rack…
i hear you on the 100% cotton issue. before i got my other everlane sweatshirts i wished they were too, but they’re just SO SOFT i can forgive it! they do pill a lot though, i’m not sure about the new styles, but the old ones have pilled like crazy.
I looked and thought it all looked really cute, but I just booked a trip to see my Granddaughter in Feb. and I’m on a self-imposed shopping ban. But no saying what I’ll do when I get to Chicago!! (I’ll be giddy for shopping!)
i’m sure it will still be around when you can shop again π meanwhile, good luck with your shopping ban!!!!
I hoped the sweatshirts only polled cut they had rayon in them as I just ordered two I definitely did not need lol
Pilled not polled… thanks predictive text
Oh no, you drank the short-sleeved sweatshirt Kool-Aid! π Seriously, though, I do hope you can make it work as a layering piece and I look forward to seeing it in an outfit. I’m tempted by the long-sleeved raglan boyfriend sweatshirts, but my shopping ban continues, at least until I’ve figured out my holiday plans this year and know where I’m going, when, and how much it will cost. And I just see that several new Everlane sweatshirt styles/colours have sold out already. Wow.
haha! yes, i did. we’ll see how it works for me. again, if it’s warm enough for short-sleeves, i usually don’t want to wear a sweatshirt, because then it’ll be TOO HOT. you know? so i don’t know how much use it’ll get when it’s warm, but if it’s 60’s-70’s, i can see my self layering it a lot….anyway, the price is good enough that if i don’t wear it constantly, it’s okay too π
Generally, I don’t wear sweatshirts. Although I recently scored again on eBay, and bought a Marc Jacobs cashmere sweatshirt. And anything that Marc makes is elevated to elegance!
I love the look of short sleeves layered over a button-up top (or down, depending upon whether you’re an Optimist or a Pessimist π ). In fact, Grechen, you got me to try that with my James Perse charcoal short-sleeved sweatshirt/turtleneck top. And I always get compliments when I wear it that way. And I’m older than DIRT!!! (and p.s. I love the blue of the Indigo Box Shirt and think it’s going to look great with your coloring. Can’t wait to see it styled!)
haha! older than dirt. how old is that exactly? π
i love to layer that jp thing (i love how we all refer to it as a “thing” because we don’t know what to call it!), poncho/turtleneck/sweatshirt over a long sleeve top. so cozy.
you are the queen of ebay scores!! i’m jealous.
I used to have a tee from a bar in Louisville, KY, called Joe’s and their theme was “Older than dirt!”
It took me years, though, to become a discerning eBay buyer. I’ll never tell about my poor purchases;).
