I really want to be that girl who can throw on a shapeless dress and look amazing in it, but I’m not. It doesn’t matter that much, because I love this dress anyway, and it’s not exactly shapeless (although it’s very hard to capture it’s intricacies in a photograph), it’s just not the ideal shape for my body type. Again, I don’t really care anymore, because it’s hot, and I LOVE THIS DRESS. I did wear it the other day without jeans underneath, but I was so embarrassed by my legs (bruises, bites…blinding whiteness) I was uncomfortable. And although it’s a little art teacher-y I’ve always loved the look of tunics/dresses over pants/jeans, and admire women who do it so well (Eileen Fisher styles a lot of pieces this way), so I thought I’d try it. I do have it bunched up a little on the left side, it has a straight hem, but I like it better with jeans that way. In fact, next time I might tuck it into my jeans on one side, that would be interesting…
Do you wear dresses with pants/jeans?
Oh, and thanks to the recommendation of Sarge in Charge and Mamavalveeta, I’m going to try self-tanner on my legs to try and disguise the bruises/bites, because it seems inevitable that I’ll always have bruises on my legs (I run into stuff A LOT).
Your hair looks great! I like the dress, too, and it looks fine with your jeans. Haven’t tried that myself, though. On the subject of self-tanner, let us know if you find a good one. Lately I’ve seen some articles that praise Sally Hansen leg makeup, and am sort of intrigued. But I worry that it would be noticeable, not in a good way.
I knew that I would LOVE the All Saints dress on you, and I do! It is so creative looking (and not in an art teacher way, either! Or what I like to call my “Crazy Old Lady from Palm Beach” look.) I love it with the jeans. I always want to do that, but I’ve really only done my tunic tops with leggings in the summer. I’m going to try it with skinny jeans, though. (Another self-tanner that women used to RAVE about at the store I worked at: Bare Escentuals “Faux Tan”…It used to kill me when they’d call it “FOX” tan!!).
Greetings Grechen! Many times if a woman bruises easily it is iron deficiency. That is my experience! Check your levels with your doc! Also, I am inspired. I think you are very rocker girl chic in this and so I will try i this week with a coral dress and white jeans! In fact, this concept will probably help make a lighter packing for Hawaii if I can think this way about an outfit!
Cheers! Looking good!
that would be cute!
i definitely don’t have an iron deficiency – i’ve checked. I think it’s just because I’m running into stuff all the time…
