I really really really don’t like the jeans with pointy-toe shoes look that was so hot I don’t know when, 8-9 years ago? It’s so dated…but I do still see it, and think why? WHY? And honestly, I’m not much of a fan of pointy-toes in any situation, but while visiting my friend Sari at Ralph Lauren recently, I tried on a pair of these shoes with a pointy/narrow toe and while it was a shock initially, I see how the style could grow on me….a pointy toe DOES lengthen and slim the leg…
And then I saw these Michael Kors clogs at Shopbop and started thinking about trying pointy toes again…

especially how they look with these leggings – perfect, in my opinion:

What say you? Pointy-toe? or round toe?
Thanks to a tip-off from unruly things, I’m now obsessed with UGGLEBO clogs. But I’m also confused. This pair is basically the same as the Sven & No6 clogs I’ve featured before:

The upper is essentially identical to No6, and similar to Sven. Now that I’m convinced that Sven makes No6 clogs thanks to the comments of several readers, do they make UGGLEBO too? But when we say that Sven “makes” No6 clogs, what does that mean? I guess I didn’t think much about it, but now that I do, maybe it only means that they make the wooden sole? That makes total sense to me (Sven provides the wooden bottom, and subsequent manufacturers customize the clog with their own uppers), what doesn’t make sense is that a manufacturer would make the same pair of clogs to be sold under (at least) three different brand names.
To make matters worse, I can’t find out any information online – whenever I search for Sven + No6 or some such combination, I end up right back here on Grechen’s Closet
But back to the UGGLEBO clogs…

This pair is on sale for $95:

I totally missed this sale at Inhabit NY until I read about it on Nanashi’s blog this morning. The prices are actually quite good for just a “sale”, and the selection is nice…
Boatnecks are a personal favorite of mine – I always wish I had more…this sweater is viscose & linen and marked down to $88:

LOVE this cotton/linen tee!!! It’s marked down to $68 and looks lightweight enough for Summer-wear, with skinny jeans?

This cashmere/linen cardi is a great shape – perhaps a bit too heavy for Summer, but great for Fall & Winter. $148:

There’s an awesome blog run by a couple of UT students, we hate nike shorts, that I thought about yesterday as my fiance and I we were dropping off the kid at golf camp. Kelly & Kristin started their blog showcase “college life and fashion beyond nike shorts” and I think it’s great – there are WAAAAY too many nike shorts being worn in Austin on women doing things other than exercising. I’ve always been kind of amazed by what people wear outside of the house, especially in the Summer, and now that I live in a city with lakes and in a neighborhood where everyone has a pool, I’m being forced to endure women dressed in swimsuits, barely covered up with something SHORT, and WET BUTTS at the grocery store. Ewww.
Anyway, I’ve started dropping my fiance’s son off and picking him up from camp this week, so I’m seeing all kinds of outfits – including nike shorts, baggy cargo shorts with UNDERWEAR showing (yuck), workout clothes, you name it. Not that there’s really anything wrong with that – I’ve just never been able to leave the house, unless I’m running or exercising, in shorts. I DO understand being busy, in a hurry, etc., but I also believe in taking pride in one’s appearance, no matter what you’re doing or where you’re going – I definitely have “inside the house or walking the dog ONLY” clothes that I would never dream of wearing “outside the house”. I just can’t do it.
So, my outfit today was kind of a typical throw-on and go outfit (not the same outfit I wore to walk the dog this AM), and what I wore to drop the future-step-son off at camp, then go to Target and Whole Foods. It’s nothing special, just what I’m comfortable in
I’m wearing:
James Perse tube dress – this is probably 6 years old?
James Perse boxy top – got this at the outlet on Memorial Day
Swedish Hasbeens clogs
Vintage woven tote (I can’t stop carrying this, even though one of the straps broke. I just tied it back on
)
