don't miss sample sales for Thursday, September 2: on Hautelook: Dolce Vita, EcoSkin, Amrita Sinngh. on Rue La La: MICHAEL Michael Kors. on Gilt: Accessories & Jewelry final sale.
Whoa, I’m on a roll! Two days in a row…Today, I’m wearing my new
SPUN Organic Cotton boatneck top (get it at
Fashion Ethic for 20% off using code “grechen20″,
James Perse skirt, and
Hayden-Harnett for Target bag. Oh, and Repetto ballet flats…
Quick note on the top – I have several SPUN pieces that I LOVE, and I’m growing into this one. This is a size large, but since it’s a tunic length, it was originally a bit snug at my hips, and a little large at my shoulders. I wear a tank top underneath, because I hate the idea that my bra straps are showing, and since I lost a bit of weight recently, it fits me better in the hips (I went on a brown rice/miso soup diet for a week…really works!)
Honestly, pockets right at my hips are not so great – they tend to add bulk there, exactly where I don’t need it. But I’ve solved the problem by always keeping my hands in the pockets LOL, so no one will even notice my hips. Anyway, I love the color of this top, and the fit is growing on me. Check out another AWESOME review over at Clutch22 – she’s way cute…

I always love it when my favorite designers get picked up by my favorite boutiques…and so it is with Ananas. I’ve loved Ananas’ unique, retro-style bags for years, and am so excited they’re also carried now at StefaniBags.

Ananas bags are all made in New York City and many use interesting, organic materials like Coconut shells, mother-of-pearl shells and polished native woods.
StefaniBags has also just added some new items from Matt & Nat, one of my favorite vegan handbag designers. (enter to win a Matt & Nat bag over at Green Grechen!)

There are quite a few Matt & Nat bags on sale now, and you can use coupon code “grechen20″ for an additional 20% off.
By popular demand and several requests, I’m going to try to revive the outfit of the day feature…although, in all honesty, it may end up being more like “outfit of every couple of days”, or “outfit of the week,” but I’ll give it my best shot!

What I’m wearing:
Gap jeans
Repetto ballet flats
Splendid turtleneck
Tory Burch Cardigan
Hayden-Harnett for Target handbag
For those of you who have been paying attention, yes, this is the smallest handbag you have ever seen on me – it’s a good 4-5 times smaller than my “normal” handbags. And to be honest, it doesn’t fit everything I usually carry with me, but it does fit the necessities (even the bags that go inside my bag are huge LOL – what can I say??) like my wallet and a pared down makeup pouch, my phone, and iPod.
Normally, I’m not a very big fan of the Target handbag collaborations – mostly, they just look like knock-offs of the designer’s regular collection, and the PVC is usually, just ewwww. The Hayden-Harnett for Target collection is definitely inspired by the designers’ regular collection, but also very different. And the PVC on most of this collection is tolerable, and much more leather-like than previous collections. (I especially hate it when they try to make it look like patent leather, it just looks so much cheaper…Anya Hindmarch?? Botkier?? I’m talking to you!)
Anyway, I was really drawn to this bag, although I would have purchased this one if it was available in stores (I may still decide to order it). I think it will come in handy for quick trips, or when I need a smaller bag. It’s very light, and easy to carry on my shoulder, but I also really like carrying it as a clutch.
Ah…remember when…Hayden-Harnett was just starting out when I started Grechen’s Closet; their Havana Hobo was the first bag I ever reviewed. I like to think we’ve grown up together! (Look at them now!!!)
The Havana Hobo has always been my favorite HH style through the years, but now, it’s been surpassed. By the Kira Hobo:

I kid you not when I say I’ve been obsessed the last few days with finding a new (perfect) handbag; and I’ve finally found it. I was looking for something light in color, with LOTS of pockets: outside and inside, hobo style, slouchy, and chic. I couldn’t have found a more perfect bag than the Kira hobo…
But even though my heart belongs to the Kira Hobo, there are other lovelies from the Spring collection (I’m really drawn to this collection more than the last couple of collections…I think it’s all the Hobos!!)
