Fall has arrived. For this Darling that means time to switch over the closet and take stock of accessories to keep me warm and organized when I walk out the door into chilly temperatures. A gal can never have too many hats, bags, and scarves (oh my!)…

Bags! At Smashing Darling we know that variety is the spice of life, and variety we give you! Whether you need a practical bag when you are heading out for the day, or sassy evening bag for a night out, you can click around and find a Smashing designer who has created the perfect match to your outfit. We picked a few faves above, here is more about them:
- MiMo Handbags: Versatile leather hobo bag (top left), 5% of their profits are donated to organizations working to stop domestic violence.
- ZJN4U: Lipstick, phone, keys, cash – throw it all in this sexy, red, Italian leather wallet and out you go!
- Victorian San Francisco: Buying vintage is a great way to go green, and this flowery bag will keep you cheerful all winter. Be sure to check out how this boutique tells you the history behind each piece!
Hats and scarves are this Darlings weak point! Whether you live in a warm climate or the chilly Northeast you can never have too many. Scarves can be easily turned into belts, headbands, or a shawl. Hats can totally make an outfit – not too mention solve a bad hair day or keep those ears toasty warm!
- Naik Fur: Designer Amy Hemmens crochets goodies to drool over – do not miss!
- Love, Anjia: A mantra to crochet to: “Cheers to the fun-loving, show-stopping fabulous dame, who wears what she pleases, whenever, wherever, and with whomever she sees fit.”
- Katie Burley Couture Millinery: Said in her very own words, “This hat is bad ass.”
- Thistle Downs: Beautiful scarves made from 100% soft Merino wool from sheep raised by the designer!
- Hello, Fabulous: Need a splash of color? A vintage Vera silk/chiffon scarf is sure to do the trick.
But seriously you really know why these accessories are so important…they can make or break any outfit and really show off your signature style.
How sad is it that I live in Atlanta and have never heard of Dress Codes? Maybe it’s new…but still, I really prefer to shop online; it’s more convenient, and I can usually find whatever I’m looking for at a boutique that offers a coupon code, so I don’t have to pay full price. (maybe now’s a good time to check it out though…they have an in-store 30% off coupon)
Anyway, I ran across their online outpost and while the selection isn’t huge, I love how cute and non-flashy it is. They do carry a nice range of designers, from Lauren Conrad to Soia & Kyo, and some organic Good Society jeans; most are relatively affordable.
I’ve fallen hard for this sweater by YMC…now if only it was a cardigan so I could wear it with this dress by Bobi….

Leave it to the ladies at Funky LaLa to make me covet something I cannot afford, and didn’t know I needed in the first place; this jacquard jacket by Gary Graham. It has absolutely captivated me since I first found it a couple of days ago.

I love everything about it, the colors, the shape, the wool/silk blend…just not the price. With the “grechen15″ discount code you can save 15%, which will take it down to $1015, but for me, right now, it’s quite a stretch. I will be content to covet from afar. And watch for it to go on sale.
As a follow-up to a previous post on a new super-cute Owl print by Virginia Johnson, Shopbop has just added a few new scarves, including the camel print:

LOVE this print. This is the print I wanted last year, but by the time I was ready to buy, was sold out everywhere I looked. I ended up getting a very nice pebble print instead, but have kicked myself every since for not jumping on the opportunity to get the camel print. Now, it’s at Shopbop, which is significant for a couple of reasons: first, they have free shipping, unlike Virginia Johnson, who will charge $20, and second, they MAY have another coupon code SOME time in the future, which means that you could get this scarf at a discount.
Now, you KNOW I’m a fan of a discount, but I’m not sure I would wait for one if you really love this scarf; It may be gone by then. I have never regretted paying full price for my Virginia Johnson scarf – it has served me well in only the six or so months I’ve had it, and I imagine it will continue to serve me well for years to come.
Anyone else out there have a Virginia Johnson scarf/shawl and love it as much as I love mine? I’m dying for it to start getting cooler here so I can wear it again…
