Outfit: December 22 2006

12_22_06

It’s raining, so I probably won’t wear my tennies (because my jeans drag on the ground when I wear flats), but I’m only going around to buy dog food, go to the bank, and random other ‘errands’ so it’s not a big deal.

I’m wearing:
Goldsign Desire Jeans
Michael Stars Turtleneck
Ella Moss Empire waist top
DarylK for Barney’s Co-Op sweater
Nuala for Puma tennis shoes
Botkier Large Trigger in Steel

I really didn’t have an outfit yesterday (I didn’t just forget to post) because I worked at Starbucks most of the day, and then worked at home the rest of the day…

Today was my ‘finish shopping’ day so I threw on my most comfortable shopping outfit and headed out. I’m wearing:

Gap Skirt
C&C California Shirt
Barney’s Co-Op sweater
Jeffrey Campbell Love Flats (again)
Chloe Paddington Camera Bag

Outfit: December 14 2006

by grechen on December 14, 2006 | SUBSCRIBE | TWITTER | FACEBOOK |

I have been incredibly bored recently with my outfits; I feel like I’m wearing the same thing all the time. Part of my problem, which is not a problem at all actually, is that I work from home doing Grechen’s Closet, and then part-time at Starbucks, so I don’t get ‘out’ much. Between work, and work, I don’t have a lot of time to do much of anything else, besides shop (but that’s work of course) & enjoy an occasional dinner out with my boyfriend. Sometimes, I never get to leave the house at all.

This all kind of leads towards my having a very casual wardrobe, but one that is centered around style and comfort equally. I don’t own a pair of sweat pants, I wear jeans only about half the time, and I don’t wear my running shoes to do anything but run…so I’m a couple of steps above having given up on style entirely, but my outfits of late lack character.

So, I’m hoping that posting a picture of my outfit everyday will help me to learn:
a. if I really do wear the same thing everyday
b. what is most flattering on me and what isn’t
c. how to accessorize better (that is my BIGGEST problem)
d. how to be more creative with my outifts

That is the theory anyway…posting pictures of myself has helped me in many ways up until now, so it certainly can’t hurt in this situation. And hopefully, you will find something of value there too!

So here goes…today’s outfit:
12_14_06

I’m wearing:
7 for all mankind denim skirt from last year
gold Michael Stars top
Charcoal DarylK for Barney’s Co-Op sweater/cardigan fastened with a peacock brooch (I had to pull it tighter because it’s a little big on me, and not as fitted as I like)
Jeffrey Campbell Turn Star Flats
Giles and Brother silver necklace
Giles and Brother silver bracelet
Bing Bang Skull Earrings
Not pictured here: I carried my grey Qara leather hobo bag

Everything is at least a year old, except the shoes, jewelry and bag. (and just in case you’re wondering, it was about 70 degrees here today, that’s why I’m bare-legged)

I feel pretty good about this outfit. It’s not boring, and was extremely comfortable for a quick trip to the Georgia Aquarium.

Virginia Johnson Scarves

I think this is the same scarf I fell in love with at Barney’s Co-Op a few months ago, but was too hesitant to buy. Since then, it has sold out, and I keep thinking about it!!

UGG Crochet Boots

December 11, 2006

I just bought these a few days ago as a ‘replacement’ pair for some blue UGG’s I bought last year on sale. I never really loved the blue color, but think UGG’s are ugly and didn’t intend to wear them other than for walking the dog, so didn’t mind the color so much. But once [...]

Review: Net-a-Porter

December 4, 2006

I promised I would share the results of my first Net-a-Porter purchase, so here goes: I think I could get used to this. I ordered two sale items (a Juicy hoodie and Paul & Joe Sister sweater) last Wednesday and received my order Thursday. THE NEXT DAY. Shipping is free until December 11 with code [...]

Review: Casch Copenhagen Jacket

November 25, 2006

My wishlist for Fall/Winter included a fitted, casual, fleece blazer/jacket to wear when I don’t need a coat & when I don’t feel like wearing a sweater. The key for me, was FITTED; I needed to replace a fabulous black lightweight fleece DarylK jacket from last year that I wore to death until the piping [...]

Review: Anna Corinna Mini City Tote

November 25, 2006

This is literally the second smallest bag I own, and I was skeptical at first that it would suit my needs at all. You see, I like to carry big bags. In some ways, I will admit, my bag serves as a sort of security blanket, much in the same way that for many women, [...]

Review: The Breed Cashmere Hooded scarf

November 20, 2006

Wow…I have been obsessed with this scarf since I saw it a month or so ago at Mr. Charles. It’s one of those things you never knew you needed, but once you see it, you MUST have it! I finally got it this Friday from the lovely ladies at Mr. Charles, and I’ve hardly taken [...]

Review: Skulls & Cashmere

October 3, 2006

It’s difficult to tell from the picture, but there are skull prints on this turtleneck (by C&C California). That’s part of the allure for me, that the print is relatively subtle, and provides just the right amount of ‘edge’ and individuality to the top & any outfit it’s incorporated in. It’s meant to be layered, [...]

Review: Peggy Li Necklace

August 25, 2006

I am a huge fan of Peggy Li’s jewelry. She’s always keeping up with the trends, making them her own, and then making them affordable. I have several necklaces from Peggy Li and mostly wear them as layering ieces. This one (the shorter one) is a beautifully textured enameled ball on a short gold chain [...]

Review: Dejarnette Glass Bubbles Necklace

August 25, 2006

I’ve worn this necklace from Dejarnette New Orleans about a handfull of times since I got it, and every single time I wear it, someone wants to touch it; they don’t believe it’s glass. It gets a lot of attention, to say the least, and deservedly so; you won’t see anything like it anywhere else. [...]

Review: Laura Stark Designs

August 20, 2006

Sometimes an outfit calls for a heavier necklace, and I love this one for just those ocassions. The “Earth & Sea” necklace by Laura Stark is made with very cool lava beads and freshwater pearls, for a beautiful contrast between light and dark. I also like to wear this with a crewneck t-shirt to add [...]

Review: Atomic Rox Jewelry

August 4, 2006

Labradorite Long Necklace in Gold Multi-Color Spinel & Pearl Ear Threads in Gold by Atomic Rox It’s not so easy to see from the picture, but the labradorite in this necklace is absolutely gorgeous. It is basically a steel gray stone, but it has flecks of gold in it and according to the light, can [...]
